What did you do in the garden today?

I guess I’m either hard-headed, or don’t take failure well. Unlike @BReeder! my garden does not want to grow cucumbers. They start, then die of something. We’ve tried several different beds -good thing we still have more beds to try that have never grown cucumber. At this point, I’m up to approx 15 varieties as a guess that I’ve tried. This makes 5 more varieties.

These are all supposed to resist diseases.

CARROTS!

Here are the new packets of various carrot seeds. So far no issues growing carrots, they just take forever. Spouse wants more carrots this year, so several will be new to us.
Last year I bought some Cosmic Purple carrots from Baker Creek. They were really really good... My DH isn't a big carrot fan but even he was eating them fresh....

Yeah, overall I'm getting a little irritated with this contractor. He started out great... I tried really hard to be overly reasonable about delays and little things that weren't perfect. He's a nice guy, cheap, and I was hoping he'd come back in the spring to work on a few more projects I have... But now it feels a bit like he just doesn't give a crap anymore and is just slapping things together to get done regardless of whether it's quality work or not. He came recommended to me by the company that actually installed the fireplace itself... So you'd think he has experience in this sort of thing. He should have known that a live edge mantel needs sanded, treated, and sealed BEFORE you put it up. DH was saying he doesn't think they even planed it... Just brought it straight from the mill and slapped it on the wall.
That is infuriating!

Good morning all. In the middle of a messy storm here. The temps warmed up overnight and we got nearly 7 inches of lovely white snow before it started raining. Ugh! I got some paths shoveled in the backyard for little Max and then the path to the chicken coop. I'm hoping it stops raining soon so I can crank up the snowblower and clear the driveway before the temperatures drop. The good news is that it's 36F so the chickens won't need their water thawed out anymore today. I'm just happy we haven't had any power outages. The internet went down for a little while but it came back to life. I'm not sure if I'll get back to garden planning today, but tomorrow looks good. I'm still getting occasional blooms on the impatiens and one of my spider plants is developing a few flower buds. It looks like the geraniums are trying to develop some buds as well. I'm hoping to get the leek seeds planted indoors within the next week. Things are settling down here enough to put that on the "to do" list. Like you @Acre4Me I will be planting more carrots this year. I finally used the last of my own when I made my last pot of soup. I'm also determined to get the cucumbers growing this year so I'm thinking maybe in the front yard in containers. Hopefully the squash bugs won't find them there.
