What did you do in the garden today?

Processed rabbits yesterday, so glad when that task is done. Packaged backstrap, and 4 legs, and they all weighed out at 2 1/2 pounds which is just about perfect. Plus I think I have enough flank to make a batch of jerky.

Just got back from a shopping run, the ladies got a couple cheap (.99 a bunch) bunches of kale (their favorite) and I got a tray of celery seedlings. We never get enough to make them useful for us but the rabbits love the stuff.
I just read about broccolini. Anyone ever grown that?
I got a tiny bit of regular broccoli last year but none of the cole veg are worth growing here, the cabbage loopers are active about 10 to 11 months of the year and I don't want to mess with row covers. They make keeping up with the weeding too much hassle. And they don't stop the slugs and worms from getting inside.

We're having friends over tomorrow (all vaccinated and boosted) and I'm making stuffed manicotti. I made some meatballs last night and the pasta sauce has been in the crockpot all day, now I need to assemble the manicotti and stick it in the fridge for cooking tomorrow.

Broccoli isn't worth fighting the loopers here. Grosses me out.

All my birds are laying again. Yay. Tree guy called me back, he'll be out to take down the oak this week. It's going to be warm tomorrow, I'm going to redo the lettuce hoop & see what will come back. & clean the littles coop. I need to move the leaves out of one compost bin so I can start using it. & I need to dig up the hostas in the bed I tore out before they come up. Might be too muddy for the tractor, that may have to wait but we'll see.

Good afternoon gardeners. This was an extremely productive day in the garden! The arbor is up and the jessamine has been planted. I cleaned up the shade garden, moved the onions in there and gave both the thyme plants a good trim. Transplanted the snake plant to the white pot, moved all the gnomes and succulents to a more limited space and cut back part of the bougainvillea so I can move the compost bin. The spot I’m putting the new lilac is ready as well. One pic is the homemade ollas I’m putting around the herbs this summer. The last pic is an aloe flower spike before it blooms. Will update when they bloom.

DH helped me with the LONG rails and the vertical framing and bracing as it cannot be done alone without a LOT of jigs. The rest I can do on my own until it's time to put up the plastic. It looks so TINY in the picture. It's not.
I'm exhausted too. Took the flat side of the power screwdriver/ drill to the head to boot. UGH, Stupid move on my part. Left it on top of the ladder and not in the safety hole up there, shifted the ladder and bonk. It was only 12 inches to the top of my head but still smarted. No headache, blood, confusion, blurry eyes etc. so there's that.
Also cleaned out the livestock areas in prep for cold week ahead.
