What did you do in the garden today?

My birds are under cover, no sparrows can get in or poop flying over. My regular 1200sf run only has bird netting as a cover, sparrows could certainly get in there, so they are further locked up under cover. & let me tell you it's a pain! Everything is harder to get to & maintain, they were in 2 coops before, now they share one. Can't wait till it's gone for the season. I did get a call from Dept of Ag saying they culled 155 birds within 10 miles of me - lockdown wasn't mandatory but suggested. So I did. I could let them out if I wanted, but I'd rather peace of mind. For now. :gig
How does the department of ag have your phone number?

Good afternoon all. @pennyJo1960 I have some of those ants in my shade garden :highfive: It has been windy here for days and with a mild Winter our pollen counts are off the charts so I’m not going out to do a thing today. I take an allergy pill, use a nasal spray and I’m still congested and sneezing. It was good to read about all of your happenings though.

I have mine in a bin similar to this, stored in a cabinet in my living room. I’ve kept them in the freezer in a zip lock baggie before as well.
I have mine in a wooden box, I wouldn't fit them all in the fridge or freezer, I have too many, I'm addicted to buying seeds 😂. I just love looking through them and planning.

I split and stack nearly a face cord of wood today with the help of DW and the kids. I did all the splitting of course and with an ax not a log splitter. Hands, arns and back are sore now.
This made room for the flower border. I still have 4 railroad ties to move and then I can actually get started with staking the landscape timbers in place and spreading the mulch (bark chips). Then the kid statues can go in place and we'll be ready for the flowers and ornamental grasses when they show up from Jung.

Thanks for the feedback on the seed storage.... I'm thinking about using a photo storage box like this one.

I don't really have room in my fridge to store it. I've just been keeping my seeds in a desk drawer in my office. I was hoping it would be OK since they are kept in a dark and temperature controlled environment. Not the greatest setup but the best I've got right now.

Made a 60 mile round trip to a nursery that we knew would have Ichibon eggplant {wifes fovorite) seedlings. Picked up a sixxer of Jalapenos while we were there and another plant for the missus .Couldn't find @ any in the big box stores around here. Back home and I was planting them and Mrs Lobo needed a few groceries from the local HEB store about 2 miles from the house. She Came back with grub, a jap and an eggplant from HEB. Didn't even think to look @ HEB for plants!

My seeds are stored in a desk drawer too.
We got a lot of rain today. A friend called around noon and asked if I had any chicken poop that I would sell or give her. The rain had just stopped and the sun was coming out. So I went out and fill a 40lb dog food bag and 2 5-gallon buckets with well composted chicken poop from the dirt floor coop. Then I filled a 16lb dog food bag with rabbit manure and lastly I filled a big blue bag ( that Walmart shipped the dog food in) with dirty wood shavings from the other chicken coop. I do a modified deep litter method, so the wood chips have been in the coop all winter and Fall.
She is going to give me some thornless blackberry plants and a few thornless raspberry plants!
Then I filled my trunk with more limbs and brush from the tree removal operation and got that load all chipped up. I think I’m up to 11 or 12 black 30 gallon trash bags of wood chips!
For those of you that use a heat mat to start seeds, do they get hot on the bottom? I’m wanting to use my new seed mat but not sure how careful I need to be about where I set it up at
