What did you do in the garden today?

Ask around, get some info before saying, here's a chipper, herre's a hemp pile, im RICH!
I don't know the laws on ANY of this stuff so this next comment may be totally off the wall but... does that hemp contain any of the good stuff in it? even residuals? If so, will you need any sort of license to stock pile it, or even have it? Honest officer those marijuana plants are for my chicken coop !! please get in the car, watch your head :)

There are chippers that cross shred, which might be able to take it down, there are others which are more grinder type, which may take it down. Or, maybe hemp is not that fibrous or it's different than palm fiber and does grind up fairly ok?

Id go and ask a few of them, hey why don't you do this and that with this? See what they have to say, might save a lot of wasted time if it turns out to be a real good reason.

Yeah I have lots of wishful thinking n ideas... just can't understand why those already growing it don't make full use of the stuff. I'm being selfish, yes...but also thinking practical (πŸ€”).

@karenerwin - I'm sorry, that's awful. :hugs How is everyone today?

Cold rain here, nothing happening in the garden. I had to go open the auto door because it was too dark to open on its own & the girls were getting annoyed! Garden could use a good rain, settle all the stuff I put in the new beds.

I did notice yesterday a couple more walking onions coming back to life & my lettuce is coming up.
I had to put down another of the hens and I’m sure the Rhode Island Red is done for as well. 😞 I just can’t reach her.
So out of 5 birds that were attacked it looks like only the rooster will make it. He isn’t 100%but he is bright eyed, alert, and standing but he hasn’t chosen to go outside yet. Last time I checked on him he had 2 hens, 1 on either side, standing with him on the ladder style roost.

This one? What kind of chips does it produce? Nuggets or closer to chips/shavings?
I had that one. Just sold it at the swap meet because I'm not taking it when I move. It's fine for straight branches, but I have a lot of oak and oak likes to grow branches all which way at 90 degrees or worse so it would clog.

I wore good foam earplugs and had to sharpen the blades regularly. Really wasn't worth the effort because I can drive 5 miles to the dump, drop off the branches and return with wood chips for free.

I never sharpened the blade on mine. Im sure it'd not hurt but never seen it behave in a manner where that would be needed.

Yes very twisty branches could be an issue, and honestly for any chipper that is not like one of those big mouth tow behind a truck kind, stiff branches standing out at 90 degree angles will be an issue with any chipper. I cut my wood in a way that all the branches were shaped /directed in a - go down the throat, manner.

I’m sorry that this happened! I hope you are able to get everything fixed up.
