What did you do in the garden today?

How's pup this morning??
Ultrasound is later this morning, so I won't know until later. I didn't sleep last night.
They kept her there last night to spare me the over one hour round trip drive to bring her there this morning. I felt bad leaving her there, and boy was it weird her not being around last night.
-----
DH left the garage open last night, but I had the curtain drawn on the seedling shed and the starts are on heat, so I won't worry about them.
----
Peas are poking through in the hoop as are some of the lettuce.
DS installed my thermometers last night, but not the app on my phone, so I'll sort that and the hoop vent this weekend.

Hope it's nothing bad with your pup, @WthrLady.

Got my garden watered this morning. After DD takes her first nap I'll pack up the kids for town. Need to make a chicken waterer and grab a bucket+lid to get started fermenting feed. Also need to get a small handful of more chicks at the TSC to replace all these cockerels. Little turds chase me to the door of the run when I leave. Well, they think they're chasing me anyway.

HPAI now found in Ohio. It was only a matter of time since every state around Ohio has had detections. It was found in a backyard flock east of Columbus. Time to get the rest of the netting up to cover the rest of the run. But not happening until winds die down.
Thanks!
I found a dead bird and tried calling different places to find out what to do with it. No one ever called me back. The girls seem fine, but i havent let them out since.
I called the extension office, police dept and health dept. the police suggested the health dept, thats the furthest i got.

I've had a very crappy day.

1. Dog chewed up and busted my brand new glasses. When I went to take them away from her, she growled and snapped at me at least 3 times. I know she's just scared because she knew I was angry but this is not the first time she has misbehaved this way. Those glasses cost $200 WITH insurance. Insurance only covers frames once every 2 years which means not only is that $200 down the drain, God knows how much I'm going to have to pay for new ones.

2. My temperamental cat peed on a quilt in our living room right in front of me. She does this occasionally, usually when she's mad about something. She knew the minute I looked at her that she was in trouble. I didn't even say a word and she took off like she was launched out of a rocket. DH wants me to put her down when she does this but. I just really didn't need this today. Quilt is currently in the washer along with TWO dog beds that she also peed on.

3. Walked outside to go start another bucket of fermented feed (it's Day 2) only to discover my little greenhouse got picked up by the wind and tossed. I had 9 broccoli starts, two pineapple tops, some sweet Basil, 3 rosemary pots I recently seeded, and 2 flats I seeded with marigold seed... All douched on the ground.

I think I salvaged most of it EXCEPT the rosemary and marigolds. Probably have to start from scratch on all those... I found several seedlings in the dirt that looked like they had juuuust about been ready to break the surface. No idea what they were. I put what I could back in dirt but I don't have high hopes.

Today was a sucky day and it's not over yet.
Sorry your day sucked :hugs
Try the online stores like Zenni or Warby Parker. Theyre very reasonably priced.
I got progressives for less than $75 total, with shipping.

Thanks!

When the dept of ag called me they told me the state vet would be the one to call if there were issues, but she said they wouldn't care about 1 bird here or there - they're looking for lots at a time. Like if half my flock was dying or if a hunter brought in a few birds they shot to be tested. :idunno

She actually said she found a dead bird in her yard (song bird) & they didn't want it.

I guess that makes sense, but 🤷🏻‍♀️

W....T.....H?! You know how rare it actually IS to find a dead bird that hasn't been hit by a car or smashed into a window?
And it's the SONGBIRDS that are spreading it.
Which means to me, that they KNOW it's everywhere, and there's no point.
We're going to end up like UK which has mandatory migration month lockdowns with birds undercover, which will only really effect the pockets of backyard birds and inconvenience their owners. The big boys will wrap it into their cost of production and it won't stop them from getting it anyway, as their birds are ALREADY undercover inside, in cages, or giant open ranging barns and the sparrows Still get in and share it.
Lord this sounds familiar somehow.

I hate days like this. Makes me want to go back to bed and start new the next day. Sorry about your greenhouse. Any chance of getting ACV in kitty? When mine did that it was because of a chronic UTI caused by after effects of being fixed. ACV in her water seemed to slow it down DRASTICALLY!! I hope today is better for you!!! 🍹🌞🌱
I will likely get her checked by the vet just to be sure....but usually these things happens because that's her way of communicating that she's peeved about something. She hates the dogs. She hates my daughter's cat. And she generally dislikes my hubby. So anything to do with those animals or people, she pees on. My hubby had the quilt in his recliner the night before and it had fallen to the floor in front of his chair. I think she only peed on it because it smelled like him.

Back when my hubby was my boyfriend, he had a cat that decided she didn't like me. She started peeing on my knitting projects and my chair where I sat to knit. She went to live with one of his friends. I felt like the evil stepmother. :(
