What did you do in the garden today?

I can't remember if it was someone on BYC or elsewhere that showed this to me -

https://www.storeitcold.com/product/coolbot-walk-in-cooler-controller/

It basically helps the window A/C unit regulate properly to work as a walk-in-cooler unit. I really need a cooler to keep stockpiled animal feed and extra eggs. I'm going to add it into a section of my barn but first I need to get an electrician out to add a dedicated circuit for it. My electrical box in the barn is pretty small and I'm not sure if it can handle the load/circuit or not.

Yet ANOTHER thing on my to-do list that really needs to get done ASAP. I really want to build a root cellar too but that will be more difficult than a walk-in cooler because I live on the side of a foothill with bedrock literally 2 ft below the surface.
A walk in is on my to do list/wish list. No good place to put one here and the house needs to some major work before my wish list gets touched. We Are fixing up the basement enough to use as a root cellar this year and pulling down the back "store" room.

I could have sworn I listed this but can't find it anywhere lol..so forgive me if duplicate.
Neighbor said i should pinch off the seedling leaves of the early squash. It already had couple squash leaves as well. So I pinched off the first seedlin leaves and now half of the squash plants are withered and look like they are dieing!
What'd I do?
I saw this a couple days ago.. but went back that evening to reply and it was gone.. but no mam, do not prune/pinch squash until after they fruit..

I have grown yellow squash and zucchini into a single stalk 4 ft tall “tree”.. my granny (great grandmother) used to do this and other old Indian tricks in the garden, but this one I remember (I was just a small boy last I’d gardened with her) and have repeated this over the years with great success.. you must support it from early on, and when it flowers (2 at a time) it puts off 2 more stalks/stems/branches (don’t really know the term for squash branches), when you take the fruit (2) you take off bottom 2 stalks/stems/branches, it just continues to stack on top of each other growing up as it goes.. it’s really neat to see and it keeps air circulating and bugs at bay..

Saw this the other day from HOSS tools. Anyone use this Florida weave style for trellising tomatoes? I was probably gonna cheat and use the old round cages I have floating around, but this looks better.
I was going to try it, but I found a web page on string training, and I will NEVER GROW TOMATOES ANY OTHER WAY. Two years of ginormous plants that go on and on without getting tangled.

Here is a link to the explanation:

She used to use Florida Weave but switched to this.

I tried that last year. And Failed spectacularly. Too much, clipping and training. And there was just sooo much rain last year I never wanted to be out mucking with it.

I’m sorry! It has been a lifesaver for me. I go out every few days and yank off the new suckers & wrap the string around the top. Only took about 10 minutes a few times a week.

I'm more of a hands off gardener. I want it set to grow with minimal input from me once its in the ground. Cause inevitably the minute I set out to putter around in the garden someone needs something, or calls, or breaks, or escapes, or the mosquitos are out trying to eat me. . .

My granddad has done that for tomatoes many years ago, I’ve done it several times myself, works with many types of vegetables. But especially big heavy tomatoes, he used to make pole/runner type peas and beans into bush types.. let the tendrils grab the top string and then move it down 6-8 inches and repeat ever other week or so.. his farm help was all us kids and grandkids, we were all short.. and we worked cheap. lol

The extra work pays off..
