What did you do in the garden today?

I've also used things like ground cover flowering moss. I can't remember the exact name but it's in Home Depot & Lowe's all the time. Grows to about 4-6" with 1 or 2 flowers at the top. Ours came up every year even though I thought it was dead from cold/snow. (in MO & AL)

Portulaca is an annual. Loves full sun, thrives in dry not so good soil. Wouldn't do good in the shade. If you want a plant it and let it go wild, low growing plant, you might try wooly thyme. Not showy, but produces a low growing mossy looking ground cover. Tough as nails, and perennial. An other perennial that I'm partial to, that... sadly doesn't survive well this far north is Ice Plant.

Ice plant does well here in Bama. Grows year round.

I think my area is too shaded for this, but I might look into putting it on my south side. Looks like it would work well there, thanks.

Finally! A day without rain! I dug in the dirt planting and moving things around most of the day. Planted several herbs, redid a planter, planted a flat of impatients, some tomato seedlings, etc. pulled weeds and gave them to the chickens and let the rabbit spend the afternoon in his playpen. It was a wonderful gardening day! Tomorrow is supposed to be nice too before more rain moves in for the weekend.

I thought that was mostly a southern plant. I am zone 5b bit it is definitely worth looking up, thanks!

I have walnut grafts that are starting to bud . Hope they are a success . I think I have finally figured it out . Only I take about 3 years ago . Tried off and on for 30 + plus years . Butternut , Carpathian and heartnut on black walnut .

I have pear budding on hawthorn . So maybe a success there . I read it could be done . Wildlife food . So a quick pear tree in the woods .
