What did you do in the garden today?

Couldn't garden because of the rain, so I "gardened" in the kitchen and made lavender cookies! Since they have dried lavender blossoms in them, that's almost gardening, right?

I haven't seen a honey bee around in a couple years. Mason/carpenter bees are of course plentiful, based on the holes in my pergola and mailbox post. If I had room, I'd set up s hive. Although the chemicals this neighborhood dumps on its lawns would probably kill them all off
You probably have no honey bees b/c of all the chemicals being dumped in your neighborhood. I'm so very glad I live rural!

I'm really not sure if that passes for gardening. I think you need to send me some of those cookies. I'll check them out to see if they pass the gardener's test!

We are also luckily rural. We rent out a bit of area for a bee keeper to use and get some wonderful home raised honey out of the deal. We also must have a couple of wild hives around, I see bees out almost all year. But the land we live on has also been organic since the 70s, so we have a fantastic variety of insects

Raising plants brings a lot of bees and hummingbirds around the place. I don't mind getting stung because it usually makes my joints work a lot better and I am not as stiff for several days. The honeybees also drink from my ponds waterfall and that is kinda cool.

We have clover everywhere and we have always had bees till this year. And not one not even the carpenter or yellow jackets or red river wasps! I am so mad that all our bees are gone! I do not poison the bees with anything. But I am afraid some of the farmers growing all these huge crops around us are using something that has killed them off.

Gardennut I have seen people grow all the veggies they would want in kiddie pools in apartments on their roof tops. They don't take much soil and I have one that I poked holes in the bottom of and planted it with strawberries. And the berry plants love it and are going crazy.

I bought some orchids at half price so I guess I am going to give orchids try. Wish me luck! I put them in my shade house. My wife bought a couple about a week ago and they are still alive. I always wanted to grow orchids.
