What did you do in the garden today?

I carpet bombed the whole garden with this stuff yesterday. This morning I found fresh tracks in it from our nightly visiting doe, but it appears that she didn't eat anything this time...so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Fingers crossed! I also put down some liquid fence hoping to keep the tree rats out of my onions and hoop house.

I have some Peonies that were at my maternal grandma and grandpa's house. They died in 1985 & 1988. It's crazy and wonderful how many years some flowers can last.
My Grandpa was a Marine and, in the war, and my best hero.
( My dad, my 4 uncles and several of my cousins are all veterans as well. 💜)

Well, the good news is our garden is finally starting to grow a bit after we got some more rain last night. So far we planted sweet corn, bunching onions, carrots, cucumbers, peas, peppers, tomatoes, zucchini squash, green beans, cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, cantaloupe, watermelon and a couple different kinds of herbs…

…Bad news is a raccoon broke into our adult chicken coop last night and killed one of my black Orpington hens. I’m absolutely devastated and very upset as I try working on repairing/reinforcing the coop. Will definitely be on lookout for raccoons tonight.

I pulled this Egyptian Jute plant out this morning. I thought it was a weed, but as I was walking to the thrash bin, I realized it wasn't a weed. I will pot this one up and take care of it. It will be the mother plant that I make clones with..........

I love to eat the leaves of this plant, each leaf is a treasure in soups.
