What did you do in the garden today?

Good afternoon gardeners. I worked and then had to run for groceries. I felt sick to my stomach and HOT when I got home but standing in front of the fridge cleaning it out and refilling it helped. I’ve decided to add shade between the fruit trees so will have to run to Home Depot for a few more fence stakes tomorrow afternoon, otherwise I’m doing nothing outside this week other than watering. Since I watched all the episodes available for Stranger Things over the weekend I guess it’s housework time :sick I have a new storage cabinet for hubs to put together so I have to empty the old one and purge some things. I also have some beans to seal in Mylar bags and need to get some lettuce going in the Aerogarden. I’m thinking we need a cow for milk too lol, with two growing boys we go through a LOT of it. I may may buy a #10 can of whole milk powder for them to use with their cereal and for cooking purposes, I don’t think they’ll notice a taste difference in their cereal and that will help stretch the fresh for drinking.Enough procrastination, better get to work. Have a good evening all!

This is actually caused a bit of contention between DH and me. He wants the panels on the roof but they think our trees surrounding the house will limit the efficiency. The installer proposed a ground mount system instead but my DH is being difficult about it because he thinks it will be in the way. Plus it's an extra $13/ft for installation over 150 ft from the house.
We talked about a ground mount one but we just don't have the room. I saw a really cool one that looks like a giant flower! It followed the sun around. I'd totally get that one, lol.

I bought powdered heavy cream & it's not bad, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless I drank a glass. But that's gross. :gig

I ate my first home grown strawberry! The only one ready, & it was HOT. LOL

Check out the sungold tomato starts that were mailed to me - am I out of line asking for my money back or should I wait to see how they grow?

Ugh it's hot here...90 but feels like 100 and no clouds. It's times like this I wish I had a pool!
The babies are in a covered run but no trees for additional shadin. So I took em some frozen yogurt with blueberries in it...put ice in their waterer.
And gonna give neighbors some spinach and kale before it's all gone. Spinach is starting to try and bolt.
This is how most of our summer is...do I need to put the shade cloth over garden?
I've got tomatoes of all kinds down the center, basil, bell peppers, cucumbers, onions and 2 mystery plants. Once spinach n kale are done the okra and zucchini will go in its places.
Or since those are all warm weather crops they will be fine uncovered?
The only thing I put shade cloth over are lettuce & beans. Everything else loves the hot sun. I don't see anything on your list I'd need to cover here in CT.

I would not consider those tomato “starts”.

I have some powdered heavy cream also but haven’t tried it yet. Good to know it’s not too bad!
