What did you do in the garden today?

I think im going to do this. Shred and dehydrate zucchini for winter use. Adding it to meatloaf sounds really good right now. And if I can do a zucchini muffin in dec everyone will be happy.
The last couple of "meat loaves" I made were half vegetable and while a bit different from an all meat loaf, they were still very good. I use more seasoning than a regular loaf. And since in our house, zucchini is a natural to go with spaghetti, I bet dried shredded zucchini in meatballs would be great.

Last year's is shriveled and sprouting. Still good flavor, but I only use it in spaghetti sauce right now, as I make that in the blender. The cloves are almost too rubbery to mince well.
Yeah, last year's garlic is really tired and I use a garlic press for minced these days.

She's 3 yrs old but I'm pretty sure she is autistic. Hasn't been tested yet because my son is in the military and getting approval for anything off Base is a nightmare. Anyway, she doesn't listen well at all and since the garden is right next to the road I'm hesitant to take her up there...

I will be taking her back to her parents this weekend so hopefully the garden can last a few more days... It's either that or water in the evening.

Oh, and I sliced the chips on a mandolin set on 2. I might try it again on a 1 and season it differently instead of using vinegar
You've just described my 3 year old son. It's always interesting around here.

I didn't get as many JBs today as yesterday. 30 today, and more like 40+ yesterday. I think the reason is the weather. Today was cloudy and cooler, though very humid. And also fairly breezy. Yesterday was sunny and warmer, less wind.

Or maybe, just maybe, they won't be as bad this year. :lau I'm pretty sure they're just getting started.

Your weeds look like lamb's quarter, aka "fat hen" plants. Chickens adore them. If I've identified them properly that is. If you want, have a look at them online. They taste a bit like spinach. Same family I believe.

x2

my chickens love it.
If only I had chickens! They'd be FAT!
I searched cucumber recipe on byc as well as downloaded the indexes from the home baker thread but nothing specific to cucumbers shows up.
Of course that's the only thing I have coming in rather fast lol!
Can yall point me to a thread or recipe for em besides the salads and pickles we all do?
I feel like I've seen a recipe for cucumber soup on either this thread or the baking thread.

I usually shred, squeeze dry & freeze vacuum sealed in 1 cup piles. Then I use it in soup or in bread thought the winter.
Hehe, this is me and DP. And so much of the time I'll be muttering curses on her head and then find the thing I'm looking for right where I last used it.
That is so me! OMG last night, I was all searching for the garlic press assuming he put it somewhere weird since we're new to the dishwasher & all the new cabinets (he didn't even have a handle on where everything went in the old kitchen). He was standing next to me when I found the press ON THE COUNTER - just where I put it 2 seconds before. He just laughs at me. I say wait till I get old - you're in for it!
