What did you do in the garden today?

Just incase anyone was not aware.

Baby toads with a plump lil' belly are ADORABLE.

Not sure whats going on but my tomato plants are all shriveled but still have tomatoes on them. Ive been watering them and we've had a good rain. Any thoughts? No signs of pests that i can see. The potatoes right next to them are fine as are the. Olungeer tomatoes.
I planted mr. Stripey, roma, and one other one I dont remember.

DH watched the baby so I got some time to water before the sun went down. Not deep watering but at least good enough to get by until the weekend... I'm SO READY to replace all these hoses though... I'm constantly dealing with water leaks which creates an enormous amount of waste but this evening I barely had a trickle out of the hose. I don't know why... I thought DH had shut off the water. Just aggravating

I think many of us can relate! I pulled the rest of my carrots today because something is taking them out one by one from underground. It has even started pulling my chives underground and eating them! When I was digging out my carrots, I came across a big 3" tunnel underground so whatever it is must be pretty big. Do voles get that big?
That kind of sounds like a gopher. We have Botta’s Pocket Gophers here, and they will pull plants underground and eat them. Or, eat the roots off and you can’t figure out why the plant died till you pull it up - minus the roots! We’ve had so many gardens fail because of the little pests.

Whatever it is, it ate ALL my chives this week... 🤬🤬🤬 Pulled them underground and ate them. I didn't think goohers liked plants in the onion family but apparently I was wrong. Of course I'm assuming it's a gopher. I still don't know

Do not water the tomato from top.

Alright, this is quickly getting out of hand. In addition to the 1 that we already ate and the 1 that was sitting in the fridge there were 4 ripe cantaloupe already sitting on the counter from yesterday when I brought in another 6 today (along with an 8 lb butternut squash)...not counting the 5 others that were ready to be picked but will have to wait until tomorrow. And they're averaging 4.25 lbs each. Oh, and there's a boatload of large watermelon maturing close on their heels.

Got the 2nd raised bed built out of pallet wood. Moved and assembled both raised beds to the Farm Garden Remembered to take cardboard to put in the bottom of the raised bed. Tomorrow evening my friend and her Dad will move the raised beds into position and build a cattle panel arch between them.
Then we need to fill them with dirt and get them planted. It’s a little on the late side but I have small pumpkins, cucumbers and gourds started at my house that we will be putting in the raised be and training the vines to climb over the cattle panel.
