What did you do in the garden today?

I have an Aerogarden and use it for the same reasons. The directions say to trim your plants and I suggest you do. It makes them bushier and stimulates growth. I tried a patio tomato in mine, just one, and it was doing well but I let it go and went back to lettuces as that’s what we needed.
That sounds amazing! I may need to check this out for anniversary gift to myself lolol.
Oh wait I got chicks and more chicks for that....but we need lettuce too LOLOL!

Is miracle grow bad for your garden?
It’s not the best choice but it does work. Natural fertilizers are better but not always available or convenient. It’s fairly cheap compared to buying various items to mix your own fertilizer and reliably provides for the basic needs of growing plants.

Lol, maybe a gift for each year then!

I do love my Aerogarden. If you get one I suggest you also buy some of the little plugs you can refill the holders with and your own seed. I have had trouble with getting the seeds it came with to sprout so I think some may be kinda old. Fresh seed goes crazy though.

Not bad, just the wrong balance. It's focus is making thing bigger, which in their marketing = better. But the amount of nitrogen feeds the plants SO much that they get huge, huge with greenery, which does NOT equal fruit and veg production. A lot of energy is put into making greenery. I only use it early on to get them established and then cut way back. My soil is hideously poor and nitrogen deficient to start with, so I know it needs help for the first month.
After that, I focus on fruit production and keeping calcium and magnesium and potassium levels right.

Which is why I’m using it on my fruit trees this year.

I think I’m finally caught up! Good morning all. I haven’t done anything outside but maintain the watering schedule. Too many migraines and missed sleep keep me sluggish when I should be prepping for corn, beans and squash right now. The new nest box for the girls seems to be a hit. It’s interesting though, they’ve made the nest in the very back of the bin so that all the fluffy straw in front hides it. I have a second one ready to go out, just need to get it out there. Anyway, I need to go the store before it gets hot, have a great day!

Awesome! Thank you for the tips! I was wondering how they squeeze so many plants into the small space so trimming a lot is what I'll do!

I ordered a package of the empty plugs to plant some of my own lettuce seeds in. The kit came with an herb package but I feel I would be wasting it if I use it for herbs this time of year while they're abundant outside, lol.
I'm itching to plant in it though because the empty plugs are taking forever to arrive!
I'm going to be experimenting with different ways to reuse these cups too. There has to be a less expensive way rather than buying a ton of plugs.

Well shucks, I just found an off brand package of 50 grow sponges for the same price as the little kit, lol. I also got their baskets to fit them. All on sale too! I should be all set for a while now!
