What did you do in the garden today?

I think my pumpkin plants are going to overrun the whole garden!! I swear it has grown a foot in each direction every day this week!

@littledog - I also LOVE the painting!

I haven't caught up yet....

Watered yesterday & fed everything today. Killed a bunch of what I think are asian lady beetles. & a couple cucumber beetles trying to get into the cukes under the netting but are too stupid (thankfully). Smooshed some red eggs on an outside cuke leaf. & a bunch of JB. I was all ready to pull the bug netting till I started killing bugs, lol. Sprayed for aphids again today, not too bad but I need to remember to keep up with it. Trimmed & tied the maters. Checked on the curing garlic. Hot peppers are really starting to grown now, some fruit coming in too.

Eating lots of lettuce, my first cuke last night, a few squash, tons of beans & the first of the garlic I pulled a couple weeks ago.

On the beans, not a huge fan of the dragons lingerie pole or the rattlesnake bush - the leaves are turning yellow on both but the purple beans in the same bed are beautiful green. Both of those types are a bit stringy too if forgotten by a day or 2. I have decided I like the plain ole purple ones & that's what I'll stick to next year. No blue lakes yet, but they're flowering & they're tried & true here. Only problem with the purple is when you can them (dillybeans) the canning water turns pink. 🤭

Off to collect eggs & heading out with a girlfriend for some much needed girl time! So much needed DH even suggested I might need a vacation this morning. :lau

I started taking over a portion of our kitchen table with gardening doodads, lol. It has either been blazing hot or raining outside so I will officially be trying to grow stuff in the aerogarden, a tray of microgreens, and mushrooms! My thoughts are that I can grow lettuce inside while it's hot outside and herbs inside when it's cold outside!

I have an aerogarden too. I put it away for the summer but used it to start a bunch of things over the winter that then went outside - mostly herbs. It works really well. I got the refills for it too had been using them. I'll probably just do herbs for winter as it's better than walking outside & digging through the snow for thyme. :lau I could never grow enough lettuce under it for a salad so I don't bother with that.

JBs seem in lower numbers now - not sure if that’s just bc it was cooler and rainy. I’ll have to keep checking today. When they first showed up, for about a week or more, it wasn’t too bad. Then BAM! Tons of them. Put out traps, began handpicking for the last week or so. Maybe their numbers are dwindling. How long does the JB season usually last?
My JB traps have slowed down quite a bit. I literally had thousands the first week, now the traps are almost empty. I have been picking them off some garden things, but not nearly the amounts I usually do. It seems weird this season, usually even with the traps they make a mess of the beans but I've only picked maybe 3 off them. Weird, but I'll take it! Maybe it was the new traps I got - I've never had that many in the traps before.
