What did you do in the garden today?

What are your temps there? Tomatoes self pollinate with just a bit of movement to the flower so it's not a pollination thing. Once temps creep up over 90F it can damage the pollen and not develop a fruit. It happens to me every year. Tomatoes seem to be easy for everyone but me, lol! This year I used shade cloth and it made a world of difference but overall you'll find that some varieties are just hardier in the heat than others.
90s every day and even I to 100s with high humidity.. awful!
But we did get a slight break just 80s today!

It sounds like your climate is very similar to mine here in Southeast Georgia, hot and humid. Shade cloth has worked well for me this year or if you have indeterminate varieties of tomatoes and you keep them alive through the hottest time you will get some tomatoes here and there and have an extra crop in the fall if it survives the heat. Determinate tomatoes will set a crop and die off naturally though.

JBs seem in lower numbers now - not sure if that’s just bc it was cooler and rainy. I’ll have to keep checking today. When they first showed up, for about a week or more, it wasn’t too bad. Then BAM! Tons of them. Put out traps, began handpicking for the last week or so. Maybe their numbers are dwindling. How long does the JB season usually last?
I got fewer today (72) than yesterday. But it was windy, so maybe they were hanging tight wherever they were hiding. 251 so far. Yes, I count them. :)

My JB season is about 4-5 weeks long. July 4th to the first week of August.

Any ideas of to these 2 demons we just saw...1 out back and 1 at front of sidewalk!
UGH I despise these things!!!
