Also, it looks like some animals pooped out some ground cherry seeds in my yard! It's coming up in the most random places!

I hope not! I was doing more research, and an iron deficiency was what I thought looked closest... it's the only one doing it, and is in the middle of the row... and it has the most fruit on it...
I'll keep a close eye on it for the next few days. Maybe I should just pull it because I do have more than enough plants... golly. I'll have to do more research before I decide.

Nope, you're not!

I need to use my pressure cooker (not an instapot, but same idea) more! What do y'all cook in it? I need ideas. I've only ever canned in it, made broth & a cheesecake once.

I have to finish watering today, my soaker hoses should be here so that'll get done. Hoping for rain tonight.

I didn't realize how big the rutabaga greens would get, I think I need to make the hoops on the bug netting bigger! I would like to plant some more but it might be too late by the time the onions come out.

Everything! Plopped a half frozen beef roast in mine yesterday and it was done for dinner. It makes fantastic risotto without having to stand around stirring the pot. Works great for veggies, especially artichokes. Look up meal ideas for an instant pot and you’ll fin a ton of ideas. A lot of them you just dump ingredients in and start it.

I love my instant pot. Use it all the time! I've had it for about two years now with no issue. I've got the 8qt because I use it to make chili and it's always a huge batch. I don't only use it for pressure cooking. The sauté function can sear meat, and the lower temp can be used for making pasta or just about anything else that needs a good simmer. I use it to make potatoes, either mashed or prepped for potato salad, and it heats up waaaaay faster than a regular pot of water even on a gas stovetop.

I watered this morning and picked a single okra pod again. Haha! Threw it in the fridge to chill down and then I'll slice it up and toss it in the freezer a bit later. My freezer is too full to freeze the slices on a flat surface first, so fingers crossed.

Dh ordered a shade cloth and is planning to put it up in the next couple of days. Everything we're reading from people in climates like this (arid, semi-desert) is that the sun just tries to murder garden veggies.

Steamy outside. Hand pollinated a few things. Need to hand water a few things later.

Found a few more yellow containers at Dollar Tree. A few yellow play buckets (sand pails) and a few yellow oval containers. So, now I have more yellow things with soapy water throughout the garden. Amazing the bugs they catch. Mostly tiny bugs, flies, some beetles or grasshoppers that are unfortunate to land in them. I think one bee was caught this morning-can’t tell for sure bc it was all dark -no color distinction. Anyway, they need a little maintenance with tossing the buggy water, rinse out, then fill with new water. They need attention every 2-3 days since the water also evaporates.

One male summer squash flower and One male pumpkin flower. So, I hand pollinated one female of each.

Only 3 (of 11) melons had female flowers, so I hand pollinated those. So tiny -always hard to tell if it worked.

There are traps you can push into their holes that’ll get ‘em. No have a heart, kill. I’d be tempted to sit out there with some snake shot in the .22

These traps do work! You have to find the hole, which usually isn’t too hard to do. Try tractor supply or a small local hardware store. And get several traps - gophers breed like crazy!

I think I'm the only person under 60 who doesn't have and has never had a social media account with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, et al.

None of those for me either, and I’m under 60. Ironically my mother is constantly on Facebook and she is almost 78

Oh no! That doesn't sound like a pleasant start to your day at all. I hope you get everything resolved with your sick horse!

She's either got a bowed tendon or a broken leg. We've wrapped her legs up, medicated her, and she is on stall rest for at least a week. While neither is good, I'm hoping it isn't broken.
