What did you do in the garden today?

Well, it FINALLY "rained" (if you can call it that... Didn't even fully wet the pavement let alone soak into the ground. Everywhere around me got measurable rain EXCEPT our town. It did drop the temperature a tad...so I took advantage of that!

Harvested potatoes from 2 tire planters - 1 red, 1 Yukon. It filled half of a 5 gallon bucket. A few pretty nice sized ones in there too! I have 9 total tire beds. The Yukons have not completely cured but I noticed the ants have started to eat the potatoes so I'm thinking I shouldn't wait? Thoughts?

I also pulled out all the corn stalks. Harvested what cobs I could find. Most of them are dried out. What would you do with these? Make cornmeal? Save seeds for next year? Most of the cobs are around 4" long. Really small but that's probably because I didn't feed it enough.

I was awakened from midday nap yesterday to thunder!
So prayerfully went outside to bonemeal the raised bed and get more fine pine shavings on it (others from before had composted!)
As I worked it in as quickly as possible I kept praying...a sprinkle came!
I said ok God that ain't gonna be enough but You know best!
I had to take a break halfway through and rest.n drink water. Went back out to finish and play and right as I was finishing it came a downpour! Thank You Lord!!!
Hoping the bone meal helped to ripen the maters! The 2 chocolate cherry ones o had yesterday were beyond delicious!!!
And glad covid hasn't taken my buds yet!!! 😁

I'm glad you finally got some rain! I would just cut any bites off the potatoes and eat them personally. If they're damaged they don't store as well.

Good afternoon gardeners. The rain never really materialized yesterday. I did do a bit more pruning on the tomatoes and picked some onions yesterday. Today I pulled a couple of carrots and a few more onions. Then I watered the acorn squash bed along with the two herb beds. I also pruned the herb beds. They were getting crazy with parsley. I’ll hand water the peppers and trees in the front yard after lunch. Hopefully the rain that’s forecasted early tomorrow morning will give the big garden and the grass a good drink. Keeping your mind and body active is important especially when you get older. My great Aunt impressed that on me years ago. I’ll be 71 at the end of next month and try to live by that guidance everyday. It seems the more active I am, the more energy I have. Despite having a number of medical issues, I focus on what I can still do and don’t whine about what I can’t. For my 71st birthday DD is taking me horseback riding. I’m so looking forward to it.

In past years, I've let the weeds go crazy because it got too hot & humid to do much about them in the afternoon.
This year I've been getting up early to weedeat and weed. It's still hot in the mornings and I'm not a morning person but at least things are getting done.
I picked green peppers, 2 gallons of cucumbers and a nice mess of green beans.
