I'm gagging just looking at the picture and imagining trying to eat it....I'm not sure I could bring myself to eat the corn fungus. I think I'd gag trying.

It grew on organic sweet corn for god sakes…It’s not that bad! Just bad for the corn crop.I'm gagging just looking at the picture and imagining trying to eat it....![]()
Welcome to the garden thread, so nice to hear for gardeners from overseas! Please post some pictures when you can.Picked dragon beans and japanease aubergine, then I watered it.
I also removed some weeds.
So beautiful!Harvesting the last batch of oriental lilies~
I have never tried to freeze the fritters but I know some do. They aren't great to me being low carb & not using flour so I don't generally make them any more. I do shred, salt, squeeze & freeze in 1C piles lots of zucchini (& cucumbers for that matter) for breads or soups or even the chickens. Maybe it was @Wee Farmer Sarah who froze them?
Freeze after cooking. Also, I found it better to freeze on a cookie sheet first, then put in a bag so they don’t stick to each other.
Thanks so much all of you! Now I have lots of options and plenty of zucs to use them on. Somehow in my excitable springtime madness I thought planting 10 zucs was a good idea, forgetting that I had sworn years ago to never plant more than 2 zucs a year. The pickling cucumbers will soon be running a close second and I'm here for it, I opened a fresh jar of bread & butter pickles that didn't seal and they were so delicious! One of my egg customers loves them so much I'd given him my last few jars, so I've been out of them for months. I bought a big bag jalapenos to add to my assorted peppers so I'll be canning cowboy candy this week too. Time to get more canning jars.Good very early morning. Yes I froze the cooked fritters and they were great @NewBoots. Just don’t brown them all the way.
I didn't think I' ever go this short but since a mishap at my old hair dresser's, I've kept it short to super short ever since. It's made not being able to go into a salon during covid much simpler, DP and I have just cut each other's hair.Mine was long as well as I do historic acting and teaching, but screw it. I was always wearing it UP, which wasn't doing it for me. After Covid #4, it was coming out like mad and is course now (grey is anyway), so off it came 1952 Queen E II pin curls for me now. Anything shorter and the white hair make me look bald.
To all of you without rain...I send you some of mine. We have flood warnings out and my chickens still scared from the owl won't go in their coop. Yet, I hope this storm sends some rain your way because I don't need it and have no electricity right now oye.
Help! Squash bug infestation! Should I just pull my plants & call it a day? Never had them before, only SVB. Two days of rain and not checking and they are ALL OVER THE LEAVES. No way I can eradicate them all…
You really need to eradicate the bugs to prevent next generation . Ripping out plants is good . Using chemicals is a option . A systemic insecticide is the simplest . Don't like chemicals ? Then use one of those flame things like weed dragon or similar . Yep mini flamethrower .
I think more people will give it a try to at least supplement, probably happening already because people are scared. They might not be talking about it, but they are. I have low confidence in humanity, so if it gets that bad
I'm definitely concerned. The random foot traffic on my country road is higher than ever. Also have had to call the cops once for someone literally trying to steal bee hives. Sadly they were taken to the hospital because they were very very clueless. We did loose one hive out of our 4, had 6 at the beginning of the year...now down to threehow many people have land for gardening? my concern is how to keep my animals and garden safe once people from the cities come to the country. guns are illegal here but I need one (or a few).
How I wish my chickens could help out in the garden... Mine is currently being swarmed by squash bugs, ants, and baby grasshoppers. The ants are so bad that I can't water some of my raised beds because they will attack me as soon as I try to open the lid to the water reservoir. I really need to take some Borax down there....my chickens eradicate every single bug that dares to come to my garden, lol. I have never used any chemicals.
