What did you do in the garden today?

Sweetened condensed milk.
I ALWAYS DOUBLE this recipe.
I make it in a large 4-8 cup measuring cup, and then use an immersion blender to mix it for a couple of minutes. Then I pour it into a quart mason jar, let it cool- uncovered the the refrigerator for a while, then put the lid or plastic or foil on the jar. I use it before a week passes.
Condensed milk is used by WEIGHT for recipes NOT volume.
I think that the dry milk used makes a difference.
Eagle brand SCMilk I get the closest using SWISS MISS dry non fat milk powder
Carnation SCMilk has a tang to it, and you can get that using Carnation dry non fat milk powder.
Bobs Red Mill is good.
Those are the only 3 I've tried.
I cannot taste a difference in them IN recipes, only when licking the spoon.
Usage, I have found NO difference in the canned store stuff and my own. All works the same.

1 level cup of instant nonfat dry milk
2/3 cup of white sugar
1/3 cup BOILING water
3 Tablespoons of butter

I melt the butter first in my glass mixing bowl, add the sugar and mix then mix in the dry milk THEN add the boiling water.
I mix by hand first, then take the immersion blender to it.

When it is hot and warm it is runny, just like canned SCMilk.

As it sits in the fridge, especially next day, You cannot tell the difference.

Enjoy.

I need to catch up on here later, but posting am update for now. DW and I spent a few hours on the yard and got a lot off the framing up in the greenhouse build. It's starting to take shape.

Too dark to get a picture, but after lunch we went back to work on the greenhouse. We finished ALL the framing and then I put together the door and the vent windows inside the house as they ate manageable pieces I could work on inside where it's much warmer. Now we will just need to put the panels on and hang the vent windows and door and then we will finally have a greenhouse.
Of course I still need to take care of the interior floor (leaning towards using the old pages we have) and build shelves and a small potting station. DW isn't so certain about a raised bed being inside the greenhouse so I might scrap that and just put a single shelf for potted plants on that side too.

There is a trick to get the panel clips in, and I wish I could remember what it was. I remember I held on to them with needlenose pliers and a slight twist. Once you get it, you get it.
