Planted some tomato plants, weeded, had the puddin scared out of me by a field mouse that decided it wanted to make a home in my garden without asking me first...the usual![]()

You might consider a shade cloth over your cool season plants if the sun and temperatures get too warm.On Saturday I planted half my seedlings (lettuce, spinach, onions, broccoli) in the too wet ground and the other half in pots in case they don’t take to the wet ground. I also planted carrot seeds and potatoes in the garden. I also put up an electric fence. This is my first time fooling with cool weather veggies and I planted them when county extension recommends, but I have two worries.
1. I’m worried it’ll get too hot too quick for them.
2. I’m worried the ground is just too wet.
But either way it’ll be a good learning experience and it was something fun to do before it’s time to start my warm weather seeds.
Does anyone know what kind of bugs these are? I see them every year, about this time. Zillions on the snow. It is slightly larger than life size. The move around, and I think they can fly...? Not sure about that.
