What did you do in the garden today?

Sunny and 72 today, blizzard warning to my west, fire warnings here and south of me.
Smells to high heaven out there, but I dragged myself out and planted a hickory tree, and made sure it had a deer fence, as it is alone in the hayfield.
Then I planted 4 hazelnut trees, and everything got 5 gallons of water. I cannot believe how dry everything is, and how deep the dry GOES.
Watered the flax bed and still cannot find my pex clips for the cover so I'll buy more tomorrow.
I'll need to up pot tomatoes by Tuesday. Good GRIEF.

BTW Storms for Iowa, Illinios, Indiana Missouri, Arkansas Tuesday:and Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, western Penn -Wednesday. (and places near those) Tis the season..... you know the drill.

First I created a garden tool organizer from a pallet:

Then after supper I planted my Blue Lake and wax beans!

Finally I replanted the Swiss chard that didn't sprout:

I didn't even finish half of everything I needed to do this weekend. Had our granddaughter all weekend so most of it was spent chasing her. She gathered up all the pinwheels I use to deter the deer and "planted" them in the garden. 😂

I did get my broccoli and cauliflower plants in the ground. Also seeded some flax, marigolds, and two different varieties of Yarrow. Big storms coming should water everything thoroughly.

I also STARTED on one strawberry bed. Marking the barrel.

Adding internal drain tile and chicken wire

I'll add netting inside so soil doesn't fall out of the holes. Wood chips and small log pieces in the center of the chicken wire. Soil around the outside ring. Then drill my hole at the top rim for the polyline, add emitter in the center. Cover with the lid. Add strawberries. Voila!

Two more to go.

I finally figured out how to use my Fuji camera. I had it in a draw and never used it, but had to ever since my other camera decided to hide itself. I hear that cats do that before they die, but I am not sure about that.

Anyway, although I am wrestling with the Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus, some of my cherry tomato plants set fruit, so at least I am going to be able to taste the exotic varieties I see on You Tube.

My self watering wicking buckets that I strung together with a 3/8 tube to a solution reservoir float valve are doing what they were designed to do. They have been using less solution in comparison to my Kratky cucumber buckets that I set up the same way.

I think the wicking buckets are more dependable..................:frow

I fed my squash plant some of the fish fertilizer that I made and watered it in. The next day I saw a lot of flowers and green growth. I also poured some around my Carrie mango tree and notice new leaf growth. I can see that they like it...........

I made Kim Chee with some won bok leaves and it tasted better than the store bought ones. I have about 12 won bok plants growing in 1 gallon fabric pots, they are going to make a lot of Kim Chee. I have been using them in soups, but I am getting tired of them, so I decided to preserve them.

Hey, may I ask a stupid question? Are you growing strawberries in that barrel? How exactly does that work?
