What did you do in the garden today?

I need to vent or rant a bit. I have been trying to get rid of a wart on the bottom of my foot a plantar wart. I had some removed back in mid 1960s, They burn them off. 2 weeks all healed. One treatment. Now they put acid on them wait a week and I apply wart stick for 2 weeks. After 2 treatments doctor says gone. It is back so never gone. I told the doctor this and he says this is the best treatment. No I experienced the best treatment. I reluctantly let him treat it again. Been 3 months dealing with this bull. I told him I was tempted to burn it with a soldering iron. I bought a soldering iron with a fine tip. I plan to put toothache med on it to deaden it some and then burn it. I have been to 3 doctors over this and first 1 said a callus second one said wart and gave me a bottle of acid. :barnie
Doctors today aren't what they used to be. They used to have critical thinking skills. No more. They follow the strict line of instructions they are given (for any treatment) and don't deviate from it. Ever. If you even suggest it, they look at you like an old biddy in church huffing her outrage at the Jezebel who dared to sit next to her.

I began having headaches out of nowhere a couple years ago. Both my grandmother and my great-grandmother (her mother) died from aneurysms. I went to 2 different neurologists. Had all kinds of tests done. Both told me "it's migraine disease. Nothing you can do except take these pills & injections the rest of your life. Next..." I refused to accept that as an answer. First because I'd never had migraines before. Second because I FELT something was wrong. I know my body better than they do. I went to a chiropractic specialist (not a regular chiropractor). They only work on the top 2 vertebrae that connect to the brain stem. Nothing else. Within a month, they completely cured my migraines. No meds. No injections. Nada. Just common sense and science.

But seriously ~ you're so right about today's doctors. Good for you, following your intuition and finding help and relief

So... our sons came over on Sunday and tore down the old gazebo. Bitter-sweet feelings about that. We've been burning the wood, a bit at a time. Making decent progress, but the weather isn't cooperating, very well. I still need to transplant some things that I had growing around it. I did prepare a raised garden for the plants. Now, the task of digging up the very established plants.
My yard looks like a war zone

My health has a lot to do with the decision this year, 5 strokes in the past and now dealing with stage 4 cancer I just mainly don't feel like it.
Oh, I'm so sorry, hope things get better.
You will have a nice flowering garden without doing much.

You’re welcome to sit on the bench over here with me & watch all the gardening going on though! I am not able to garden this year as I’m recovering from a couple spine surgeries. I have 1 bed of garlic that I planted right before surgery, 2 existing strawberry beds & I was able to plant my raised lettuce bed thats on legs. That has to suffice this year.
Maybe you'll be able to just gain ideas this year, and do a little something in the garden next year. One thing to consider, is plan things to grow that take less work but are expensive in the store. Like fruit trees, berry bushes, asparagus - stuff you plant once that you can harvest year after year, that is expensive to buy. Why break your back for potatoes and carrots?

I second that. Maybe try something that is very low maintenance, maybe even indoor.

Have you ever considered Bonsai?

I have a ficus bonsai tree, and it is pretty low maintenance. Also very easy to take care of.

I also have a Meyer lemon I am trying to turn into a bonsai.

Good morning gardeners. Speaking of dogs, I gave both of my wee beasties baths yesterday. Max, my shih tzu poodle mix, etc., loves his bath and as always was a willing participant. Chloe, my long legged chi-weenie, is not really a fan. I got her into the kitchen sink and started wetting her down when Max ran through the kitchen. Of course she jumped out of the sink and 5 feet beyond near the doorway. I was a bit unnerved and scolded her about not wanting to spend the rest of the day at the emergency vet. She limped for a little while, but she's fine now. Upsetting news for the day. The owner of the tree company that cut down my trees along with the forest behind it confirmed that they had never planned to clear any of the debris left behind. At least I know now so I can get started on cleaning the mess in my yard. People are nasty liars. They left a pile of tree trunks on top of one of the corner markers. That's a real PITA. At least I know I can clear enough to plant the stuff that needs to go into the ground this month. I need to clear more before putting the perimeter fence in.
