What did you do in the garden today?

I don’t like olives 🤮. We went to Harrys bar when were in Venice for the nostalgia & I could not believe that they were charging what came out to like $25 for a bellini that was in a small juice glass! & this was like 10-15 years ago! I was so annoyed I actually ate the bowl of olive because they were free. I was determined to get my 25 bucks worth. 😂

& now I forgot what I was going to say…:old

Oh…we can get borax in the laundry isle here at the grocery stores, no problem.

:clap Nice video. I attend a Senior's Cooking class once a month. Our instructors show how to cook lots of different foods, but they never bother to show all the prep work like dicing or cubing the food. I tried one of their recipes that took only 40 minutes to cook, but, at home, I discovered that it took me almost 40 minutes for the knife work prep before I could start to cook the meal!

BTW, I recently purchased a 1 X 30 bench sander that is used to sharpen knives razor sharp. Don't know how to use it yet but will be trying it out this summer when the garage warms up. Nothing more dangerous than a dull knife. I hope to get our kitchen knives back in shape.
Practice so I can send my good knives to you to sharpen! I cant find anyone around here that does it so I mail them out to be sharpened. For a couple sharpenings I could buy new knives at this point. 🙄 I think I may try & find a new chefs knife soon, I’m not thrilled with the Wustof. Anyone have a knife they love?

& something is eating my tulips, they’ve munched them down to 3 inches high & eaten the bulb stem before it even developed a bulb. Probably the groundhog under the shed that I said doesn’t bother anything. 😂 I don’t care about the tulips, they were here when we bought the place.

If you have a riding lawn mower, then be sure to consider getting a cart with a handle that converts between manual pull or attaching to the hitch on a riding mower. Not all carts have handles that can switch to tow mode behind a riding mower. I have a big property, and I use the tow feature of the handle as much, if not more, than the manual pull mode.
We bought one last year to replace the old Murray that a friend gave us. (We named the Murray, "Bill.") We couldn't find belts for the mower deck anymore.

So DH took the mower deck off and it's now my towing trailer.

Ok, I'm even more convinced that I need a Gorilla, or knock off store brand cart!

Honey, you know what I'd really like for an anniversary present...? Isn't the 34th anniversary the "cart" anniversary...?

I don't have any vents in the plastic dome on the 10X20 tray. I thought the whole idea of using the dome was to seal in the humidity (condensation on the lid) until the seeds sprouted. Condensation on the lid built up almost immediately as the 10X20 tray is sitting on a heating mat.

:idunno If condensation on the lid is bad, I could either prop up the plastic dome or remove it completely. But I thought I was supposed to have condensation on the lid until the seeds started to sprout, and only then remove the lid. FYI, the room temperature is sitting at 63F, whereas the soil in the net cups with the seeds under the plastic dome is sitting at about 80F.
If they get too wet they’ll rot or you’ll get a fungus. You want to hold moisture, but not too much.

That’s good to know, I’m right behind you for one of those!

Hi all. I’m semi caught up, this has been a rough week. I’m off until next Tuesday so the garden and yard will get some attention this week. I’m thankful for hydroponics, you can ignore stuff and not worry that it has enough water when you’re busy with life events. Have a great day all

According to the guy at the Olive tree farm Olives only come in green or purple ( very dark purple ) or a combination of green and purple 🤷‍♀️
Google seems to agree with the rest of you though for the most part. 😊
Well I agree they may be super deep purple, that we call black, and the black black stuff we can buy in gallon cans for $2 are chemically altered to BE black.
Like black plums are really deep purple or deep deep blue....we call them black.
I've SEEN black olives on the tree in November! California

Call a sewing machine repair shop. Usually they have a scissor, shear, and knife guy on file.

Smoke from Kansas rolled in late last night and is still here this morning. It had the full moon looking gloriously salmon coloured as it rose through the sky.
This morning, it is THICK, thick thick, like the neighbor's house is alight :::looking out the window::: Nope, it's fine.
Chores were miserable even with a vented N95. The house has a hospital grade HEPA on it and ozone system so I'm good there. Sadly, I can't take the house out on errands today. So I'm waiting for this atmospheric inversion to shift and the winds to pick up before I go out.

I have not ONE iris sprouting, which is odd, and annoying, although they aren't up in the flower beds either. I'm hoping two years of drought haven't finally done them in.
The tomatoes have all been moved up one size and I'll feed them tomorrow.

Otherwise, it's back to the old waiting game.
I do want to build some bird houses. So maybe this weekend.
