What did you do in the garden today?

Hi everyone,

You’re probably wondering why I have been. I’ve been really busy and haven’t had a chance to post here in a while.

I’m preparing to go on a spring turkey hunt on April 15. No offense to bird lovers here intended.

Also, I learned a hard lesson about maple sap. It CAN spoil if not stored correctly. I did not store it correctly, so I lost 30.25 cups of sap on the 5th.

My tree must’ve realized this, because it’s now producing like crazy.

My sap run data is pretty long, so I will post it on a different post.

Just got back from delivering custom order rugs in the city. She ordered two, and only took one. WTH?! UGH Lesson learned. Contract up front. Someone always ruins it for everyone.
I had to reset an entire loom run for this special order!
Upside was that I had the truck, which needed gas, which was by HomeDepot and Menards. I need garden mulch for a couple of the new trees and the garden. HD had 1.5 cfeet for 4.98 a bag. Menards had 2 cfeet for 2$ a bag. Since I have been burned with the quality of Scotts LawnCare mulch three years running, I was happy to go to Menards for this one item. I ordered and paid for it from the parking lot of HD and pulled around the back of Menards to pick it up. Win.

I have seen a crazy number of turkeys today. More than I've seen all winter! I stopped counting at 50. One huge Tom was walking down the side of the freeway!

🤔 what kind of rug and how big?

i know its woven, but what does it look like?
Borax is very easy to find! You just have to look in the correct places. They usually sell in in toy shops, the kids like to make a gross solution out of it.
Not here. We dont even have toy stores in my area any more. I did see a Magic the Gathering shop in downtown Akron yesterday though 😂

2.5ftx4 ft rag rug. mix of greys on one
shades of white is the other.
She ordered a grey, and a white -with or without navy stripes.
I took two grey, one with fringe and one without for her to choose from.
She chose the fringe. So I still have the grey and white, both bound. I'll just add them to the pile of rugs for sale in the closet.
Just annoying that she ordered two and only bought/acted like she wanted one.
I was expecting a larger payday today.
I'm sure they won't go without a home. My sister just had new flooring installed at her/dad's house, and is getting ready to have the cabinets done from dark fruitwood to warm white, and cloud grey on the walls. So the grey rug will probably live there.
As for a white rug. Who knows?!

tossed the bags of mulch in the garden for spreading another day, probably tomorrow
I did spread mulch around both the oak tree and the oak tree island in the front yard, but it's too windy, 40mph for me to work in. Howling wind, drives me bonkers.
Watered all the seedlings.
I purchased cedar planks for birdhouses.
So I think I'm done for the evening, besides making dinner.
I'll make up a list of things I'd like to do this weekend so I can keep my brain straight.

Borax often can be found in the laundry section of Walmart and grocery stores.

Good afternoon all. I’ve had a chance to check on stuff and it’s all still alive. I need to stake one of the white sage out front tomorrow and add some more soil around the plant, but everything else looks great. Frank hurt my elbow today jumping on the bed so the boys will be helping tomorrow morning.

I suppose a person could rig up a way to attach any handle to a riding mower. I don't have a ball hitch on any of my mowers, just the flat fender with a hole in it for a pin to hold the trailer. My point is just that I was able to find carts with the conversion handles for the same price as carts with just the manual pull handle. As much as I use my carts towed behind the mowers, I knew that was a feature that had value to me. I suspect a lot of people buying a cart for the first time might not even consider the function of the handle.
That's what the Murray has. DH has rigged the handle of a 4-wheel cart to be used as a trailer or a cart. I think a Gorilla cart might hold more than this one does. My other cart is a 2-wheeler, and it has served us VERY well, but the plastic is getting very brittle. It's been repaired more than once, and owes us nothing. It's over 25 years old.
