What did you do in the garden today?

I just keep a sharpener on hand and sharpen knives as needed. My folks had an electric one that did serrated knives too.

I have a few manual knife sharpeners in the kitchen drawers, and even have an electric one. They get the dull knives sharper, but I am hoping that the 1 X 20 bench sander I bought will take the sharpness to the next level. Also, I needed something to sharpen my woodchipper blades, which I cannot do with the kitchen knife sharpeners.

I have a couple sharpeners here, but that doesn’t compare to having them done professionally. & my knives have a 14 degree edge so I can’t use my electric sharpener on them. I have a handheld one & I hone them every time I use them but they still need professional sharpening. I’ll ask my hairdresser who she uses next time I see here but I really need someone who knows what they’re doing with kitchen knives & knows the proper angle or they’ll ruin them.

Dang weathermen screwed me up last night - it was a lot colder than they said it would be & I didn’t cover my fig tree. I hope its ok.

The grandkids and I made sugar cookies for Easter. Couldn't help myself.... 😂

Moved the biggest container for auto watering out to the Arabian lilac and set up a new one for one of the white sages and the night blooming jessamine. The 27 gallon totes are a good size for inside the shade garden. The tomatoes are putting on growth quite nicely. Either this afternoon or tomorrow I need to get more of that fencing so I can make room for more plants and protect them from chickens. I need to make cages for the tomatoes and I want to try another Armenian cucumber and grow it on some of that for a trellis. I also need to tie up the jasmine in the middle of the garden, it’s growing really this year and I’m certain it’s because of the waterer. I got a new pH meter as I’m questioning the accuracy of the other one. It has to rehydrate for 24 hours so transplanting peppers will have to wait until tomorrow, forgot about that. I did notice some tiny black bugs on that jasmine so I’ll spray it with some neem in the morning. I may do everything in there just for good measure.

ETAI got a big package of cloning collars for this bucket that I’m using for peppers right now. Since I started the peppers in the Aerogarden the roots are embedded in the little wick thing so I cut the collars to fit around it. I took the little center piece out of the rest that I’m not using to allow air flow in the bucket.
