What did you do in the garden today?

Whenever I have located borage the shipping cost was 2-3 times the price of the seeds.
I get a lot of seeds from Baker Creek. Free shipping is a big plus.

I try to order everything at one time, and not a few things here and there. I used to work in shipping, and I know when I order "the packet of bean seeds I forgot," they spent more on shipping than I paid for the seeds.

I had to send out our knives to be sharpened, it would not take very long to just buy some new, sharp, knives. The labor rate for sharpening stuff is too expensive unless maybe you had a very expensive knife.
I’ve gotten scissors and knives sharpened for an inexpensive fee at a quilt store that held an event with a “traveling” business- they set up for the day and sharpen various items. Items could be dropped off ahead of time or brought in same day. So, I would imagine that some other places may offer this too.

Also, for our kitchen knives, we bought this countertop sharpener. We also have the sharpening stones that we’ve used many times, but the countertop one has been good.

2.5ftx4 ft rag rug. mix of greys on one
shades of white is the other.
She ordered a grey, and a white -with or without navy stripes.
I took two grey, one with fringe and one without for her to choose from.
She chose the fringe. So I still have the grey and white, both bound. I'll just add them to the pile of rugs for sale in the closet.
Just annoying that she ordered two and only bought/acted like she wanted one.
I was expecting a larger payday today.
I'm sure they won't go without a home. My sister just had new flooring installed at her/dad's house, and is getting ready to have the cabinets done from dark fruitwood to warm white, and cloud grey on the walls. So the grey rug will probably live there.
As for a white rug. Who knows?!

tossed the bags of mulch in the garden for spreading another day, probably tomorrow
I did spread mulch around both the oak tree and the oak tree island in the front yard, but it's too windy, 40mph for me to work in. Howling wind, drives me bonkers.
Watered all the seedlings.
I purchased cedar planks for birdhouses.
So I think I'm done for the evening, besides making dinner.
I'll make up a list of things I'd like to do this weekend so I can keep my brain straight.
Oh yeah, i totally agree. She ordered two she shoulda taken both. I was just curious because i need a new rug, but honestly, the shipping would just be huge. Your sister is a much better candidate for them 😉

I just ordered two packages and one of Summer squash. Thanks again!

It's been raining most of the day, but first thing this morning I went to a local nursery and purchased my annuals: pentas, vincas, and Petite marigolds (my favorite).

I imagine it might take awhile before I get the sharpening of the knives down. I am just hoping to make our kitchen knives sharper. If I had to send out our knives to be sharpened, it would not take very long to just buy some new, sharp, knives. The labor rate for sharpening stuff is too expensive unless maybe you had a very expensive knife.

Speaking of sharpening costs, I had a few wood chipping "knives" that I wanted to get sharpened. Doing my due diligence, I got a price quote up front. Then I sent them into the shop to be sharpened, waited a few weeks, and they came back to the store. I went to pick them up but the price to sharpen them was 4X more than what I agree to. I complained to the store manager, showed him the price quote I had agreed to, and showed him that I could buy brand new wood chipper "knives" for less than the sharpening service!

Long story short, manage let me take the wood chipper "knives" no charge. He said he would talk to their service guy who does the sharpening and let him know that you can't accept a job at one price and then charge 4X as much for the service - especially when the sharpening service is more expensive than buying new blades.

I never went back there for sharpening service. I just shapended the wood chipper blades as best I could at home. I am hoping that my new 1 X 20 bench sander will sharpen up my wood chipper blades because they get dull in only a few hours. I could really save some money on those blades if I can sharpen them myself.
Jockos in Longville MN does a good job and reasonable enough on my saw blades. He sharpens anything.

Shipping isn't huge. And I have to ship to her as well in Central Ohio. LOL But she'll love it.

That would be nice. Labor rate here is too expensive for me to send out a knife for sharpening.
