What did you do in the garden today?

Good Morning/Afternoon and Happy Resurrection day, to any and all! :jumpy

The sun is shining :yesss:

It's still windy, so between that and the sunshine our two days' worth of heavy rain should start drying out. My flock appears happy. After a treat of grapes they settled down to roost and preen.

Can't do anything in the gardens today, it's too wet, but I did see that the bush beans are sprouting!

I am 100+ pages behind. still cold here so I have not planted anything yet.

As much as I love this thread, I just don't have the time to keep up with every post. Fortunately, most members know how busy this thread is and if you ask a question, they respond using your member name address or directly reply quote so you get notified. Otherwise, no way for me to keep up at all with this thread.

I let my chicken out a few days ago to curb the over grown weeds, knowing that they would be indiscriminate, so far they bumped into and snapped three marigold plants, but they didn't eat the leaves or flowers. I am pretty sure they don't know how good they taste yet. Looking around, they went after 3 won bok plants I had on the ground, and completely devoured them. Furthermore they dug or scratched down the dirt I built up around my squash plant for a water reservoir, but its a good thing they didn't damage the leaves or main stem.

I am not too concerned about my yellow and orange marigold plants as I already got a bunch of flowers for seeds. At least, I see them eating weeds and grass and they only ate half of their layer pellet ration, so that's a plus.

The main thing is they did not bother my tomato plants..................yet. That was the main reason why they got locked up in the first place. :frow

OMG, I got to try this 40 cloves of garlic recipe.....................

I’ve made this years ago. Yummy if you enjoy garlic!

I get a bucketful of flowers. Then (with gloves to prevent semi-permanent marigold smell and color) I twist out the petals and dump the out for the birds. So, the petals are individual . They gobble them up. They hardly touch wholeflowers.

I am trying to make the upside down cake with tangerine and I am using sweetened condense milk in substitute of sour cream and I think I will do with out the 1 cup sugar for the cake mix.

I think I screwed up, I missing the corn starch for the Carmel and I should have put half a can instead of the full 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk. I wonder how it will come out?

We spent the week on vacation. Had a great trip to the Florida Keys, although the kids are certain to be reminded of the trip everyday for a few weeks now because they were eaten alive by bugs on the beach and might be harboring mites - hoping we get into the doctor tomorrow for that. The trip was great though - mid-80s F, only a little rain one day, beaches, fishing and boatride, restaurants, grilling beachside, sea turtles, snorkling, pool, music...
I'm 39 pages behind, so picking back up from here just.
Plants survived and actually thrived while we were gone. I ended up moving everything into the greenhouse and setup a heater water wicks. The thermostatically controlled exhaust fan ensured things didn't get too hot. My sister did stop by and add some water once or twice. The plants are all 2-3 times their size. I pulled the water wicks now that we are back and I need to put a fan out there to generate more air flow so the plants are ready to be transplanted at the end of the month.
I need to start cucumbers, watermelons, and cilantro and plant sunflower seeds. There's also a number of bulbs I need to plant still.
