What did you do in the garden today?

My go to beverage for rehydrating is cold Perrier. I’m guessing it’s the minerals in it that makes it just a bit better than plain tap water. Whatever it is, it works well.
I just can’t get into Perrier, I think it’s the carbonation. I know it’s supposed to be good for you though.

I wasn’t a fan until about 6 years ago. But I discovered it helps me rehydrate better than plain water, either tap or bottled. I don’t like the flavored waters. I prefer to add a splash of lemon or lime myself. DD prefers more mineral type waters. San Pelligrino has been her preference. I’m not a fan. It’s whatever agrees with you.

I don’t like flavored water either and use either cucumber or lemon or orange slices. However, the orange pedialyte is pretty good, but not as sweet as Gatorade or some of the others. If I’m feeling really crummy from the heat I use that, but if I know I’m going to be outside doing stuff on the weekend I drink some the night before and extra water all day before. Otherwise I really feel horrible.

If that big pile in the background is an indication of the mess you cleaned I’d say you did quite well!

I’ve had heat exhaustion before and it doesn’t seem to help as I feel like it’s easier
to have it now than years ago. Anyway, pedialyte the night before can help prep your body for being out there.
The big pile was there (brown dry stuff), the green was added from this project, as was the pile on the right. That will be moved to the big pile.

What you don't see is a large pile to the left of the photo, lying on top of carpet. It was full of poison ivy and I didn't want it put on the burn pile. Once it dries out I'll discard it.

The skeletons of the 12 blueberry bushes and several small trees were at least 6' tall, and covered with vines. If you can picture that you have the mess I cleaned up.

ETA: found a photo! You can see the blueberry jungle on the right side of the photo ↘️↘️↘️↘️

I first had heat exhaustion about 45 years ago. Every time I get it again it's worse.

What helps me is wearing white shirts, a wide brimmed light hat, constantly drinking water, and getting out of the heat before I get too hot! It's tempting to say "Oh, just a little more work, it'll be okay..." but then I get sick.

Wow, you really did a big job out there! That is such a beautiful little garden there, love the pond!

I can relate! I first had it a few years ago and it really is so much easier to overheat now. I wear a wide hat that blocks the sun and usually shorts/light weight tank top. And flip flops lol. I have these cooling arm things hubs bought for me last year, I’m going try those this year and see if they help at all.

I absolutely can't handle the heat that you get @igorsMistress. I keep my house at a comfortable (for me) temperature around 64F inside in the winter months. I'm okay in temperatures up to 80F inside as long as I've had time to adjust in the summer months. My house is pretty well insulated so I don't have to use the AC too much in the summer. Staying hydrated is really important to me since my episode with kidney failure a few years ago. No work in the garden today. We're actually getting rain. We really needed it. It is a bit cool though. My pellet stove came on twice this morning. Make that three times. LOL! I think my peas are germinating. Yay! The leeks seem to be doing well. I'm hoping to get outside tomorrow and get to work expanding the asparagus bed.

I’m a San Pell fan. Perrier is fine, but seems more carbonated which is partly why I prefer San Pell I think (less carbonated).
