What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning all. I slacked and didn’t transfer the strawberries so doing that today for sure. I got my welded wire fencing so making the trellis for the Carolina jessamines today too. I’ve been researching wicking buckets this week. When my tomatoes are done I’m going to try those for cool season stuff and see how that works out for a few things. I’m getting old and dealing with those big buckets of water is a PITA. The boys are going help straightening the yard up today also. That’s it for me, have a great weekend!

Waiting for any bit of sunshine to take the totes off the plants in the green house. It only needs about 15-30 minutes of even watery sunshine to warm it up. High of 47 today, 44 tomorrow, and mid 40s Monday.

This weekend will be a good time to get all my old feed bags turned into shopping bags. DH is gone to NC, so I can leave the project set up.

If any of you are into the greenstalk, vertical garden - they are having their big sale, now. Just for a couple more days. But you must use promo code MOTHERSDAY, to get the deal. I bought 2 more for myself, and 1 each for my daughters-in-law, for their birthdays. We have our in-ground gardens and raised beds, too. But, I'd love to have more space to grow, now that I have the freeze dryer. My 1st greenstalk is now fully sown with lettuces, parsley and carrots. I have it up on my deck, where it can be easily accessed. And the harvest will be nice and clean.

DH is going to securely my tall trellises, today. I need to get some peas in the ground. I also need his help setting up a couple cattle panel hoops. But no rush on that. We have weeks before I can plant my other seeds. It's like waiting for Christmas!

Updated pic of blackberry seedlings.

@CNJ are you using Masterblend in wicking buckets for tomatoes? Or just for your Kratky buckets?
I have other options for the wicking buckets, I save the Master Blend for my Hybrid Dutch Bucket and Kratky buckets. The EC on the Miracle Grow for Tomatoes are almost twice the amount of Master Blend at the label dose, so I use only 1 TBS of the Miracle Grow per 2 gallon for the wicking buckets.

However, I will try Alaskan Morbloom 0-10-10 and Alaskan Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1 together for the wicking buckets today.

Thanks! How often do you feed them? Every time you top up, or every couple of weeks?

Had a whole thing typed and poof, it's gone.
I was going to plant strawberries in a gutter, but remembered that I had a whole stack of gloriously thick window box liners in the garage, just collecting dust for 4/5 years. I pulled those down, drilled the bottoms, lined with geocloth, and filled with potting/raised bed soil. Then in went 8 stunning flamingo strawberry plants from a local seller, and 10 of the most pathetic looking crowns from DeGroot. OMG they are TERRIBLE, smelly, slimy, knotted, unrecognizable things. I soaked them for an hour in warm water to find out what was what. I have very little hope for them. SO ANNOYED.
They're watered in and waiting for trip this week down to the greenhouse/schoolhouse to get used to warm days and cool nights before I mount them on the ledge of the schoolhouse.

I was going to up pot the tomatoes today, but decided I wanted them taller. So I raised the lamp height and then I'll move them later this week to the greenhouse to get used to warm days and cooler nights, and THEN I'll increase the size of their pots about two weeks before the sale. That will have their roots going and they'll be happy.

No sun currently to speak of and its cloudy and struggling in the low 40s. I am not amused.
Rescued a baby bunny from behind the trash bin and released him down pasture by the woods. I told him not to make me regret setting him free, the garden is off limits. I'd hate to have to shoot him later.

I just “walked” and measured the back property line, if that includes climbing over downed trees, small tangly branches and craters left from the heavy equipment. I was very much spot on when I lined up the north property line but was a little shorter going east. This was not fun but necessary to hopefully find the surveyors pin. At least I narrowed the search area. DD and I made a lot of progress on cutting the logs to a more manageable size. She started lining the pathway up to the planned gardening spots. Rain moving in within the next few hours. We may get up to 2 inches. I also planted pansies in all but one of the planters in front of the chicken yard. I came up short. I’m done for the day.
