What did you do in the garden today?

Thanks! How often do you feed them? Every time you top up, or every couple of weeks?
It feels like my 5 gallon reservoir for my 4 wicking buckets take a couple of weeks to go down and sometimes I refill it with plan water..

I bought the Scotts Earth Grow Brown Mulch from Home Depot. At first, I kept passing it by because it had different color pigments, but when I read the label, it said it was safe to use, so I bought it. I topped some of my pots and grow bags with it and found that it does a good job keeping the soil moist on top and my reservoir take longer to go down.

Are you working on a reservoir? I used a 1/2 inch float valve and bought some 1/2 inch fittings. This might give you some ideas, I used hot water from my faucet to make it easier to get the vinyl tube on the fittings and I gave a link for a female tube adapter for the float valve

Got my peas in, and discovered a few plant survivors left over from our gazebo demolition. Moved those and potted a few ivy roots that I hope to re-home, at our cabin park.
I put my plant starts out on our protected deck for a little while today. It'll be some time before they can go to the garden. But, if I can get them acclimated to the outside, I hope to be able to get them into the greenhouse until planting time.
I potted my AeroGarden herbs up, 🤞 washed it up and restarted it with some Jersey Devil tomatoes. I'm hoping to get some better starts than the ones I already have. They're pathetic. My Cream Sausage tomatoes are growing like weeds, and need to slow down. I added better trellises to their pots. They need re-potting, again. C'mon, warm days!

Thanks! I’m just beginning to look into wicking buckets. I really like how well my tomatoes are doing with Kratky so far. I haven’t had to add nutrients and they’re starting to flower. I would like to grow things in the sun garden though, without having to put a cover on it. I’m thinking it can be a hybrid area, with some in ground space for corn, artichokes, potatoes and carrots and a section for things that would be ok in buckets like tomatoes, peppers, etc. Some of that space has drainage issues and containers would be better.

We had a few moments of sunshine, enough to warm up the green house just a bit. It sure doesn't take much. If we get 15 minutes of clear sky, it's enough to make it warm. Half an hour of the watered down sunshine we've been getting will have to do for today.

My starts are still tiny! I think I need to take a seed catalog out and show the plant pictures so they know what they're supposed to look like. :gig

Got my strawberries transferred over and gave the lettuce an upgrade to DWC from Kratky. Swapped fluorescents for LED, all on timers. That’s a tower fan at the far left end and I can feel airflow all the way through. The air pump can run 8 airlines and I have one more bucket like these plus two seven gallon totes. I’d like to grab a couple more strawberry plants tomorrow and also get some Romaine lettuce going. I need to see how much I can stuff onto those shelves lol

Interesting. I am using clay pebbles in my Kratky buckets and still haven’t had to add nutrients at all.

My foot is killing me!

I am building an A-frame swing, made of 12-foot 4x6, 4 8-foot 4x4s, and steel brackets. I dropped it on my foot!!!I finally got it together...
I have no earthly idea how I'm going to get it upright.
AND - I have no early idea where it's going to go. I have no flat ground.
I know... I just had to have it, though. It's got to fit my yard swing and a hammock chair.

I also hacked out a few red cedars and honey locust trees from the area I am going to make into a blueberry patch just as soon as my tiller shows up. Hauled those over to the brush pile. Scourge of the earth, those locust trees!

And I painted some strawberries on rocks. I heard some say it works to make birds think those yummy-looking things on the ground are not real fruit, once the plants begin fruiting. I'll give it a shot.

Then, I got my corner posts setting now to extend the arbor so I can add my hardy kiwi's. I've decided the wysteria is going to have to leave.

Yes. My post is too short. I just don't care anymore. 😂

I planted my herb starts in the garden today: parsley (flat and curly), rosemary, tarragon, marjoram, thyme and oregano. I've planted sage seeds twice but the darned things just haven't sprouted.

Also planted two Brussels sprouts and two red Russian kale plants. I need to start some tomato seeds indoors either tonight or tomorrow.

Bought this rack from Menards they were selling cheap since it was going to be trash. Got it for $5 even with the banners on it 😂
