What did you do in the garden today?

I am going to make my first batch of milk chocolate chip cookies tomorrow. Its similar to the short bread cookies I made. I feel like I opened up a whole new world of fun things to do..

This lady uses corn starch to make the outside of her cookies crispy. I will follow along with milk chocolate instead of dark with no nuts..... :love

It’s been about a week, I removed the plastic from the fig containers, so far they don’t look dead.

I have placed two grafts in each bucket, because I’m the worst when in comes to cloning plants. I guess I could try and steal other branch, then graft it onto a male fig tree, and then use air cloning in order to secure my trials…

I really feel these 'mail order' big name companies are a crock.
I've had so many promise replacements or refunds and they don't follow through.
I'm done.
Some that I used to use a lot, that used to be smaller, are now so huge, they're pulling the same crap.
You can order from the company I work in. We check the seeds every year, and grow them ourselves, it’s a small 2 acre farm and we are only three workers. I can’t promise it will ship to the US, but it usually does, you can write in the order comments that you want your seeds package-less, more chance it will arrive.

Do Loofah get bugs like squash? I planted some pole beans because they are so easy & don’t get bugs, plus I don’t have to bend to pick them. Then I was thinking I have the squash trellises that I can’t plant squash on so if loofah is trouble free I could plant that there.

Eta - how about powdery mildew, do they get that? I need something maintenance free.
Try bottle gourds, they kinda taste like zucchini, bigger and pretty much nothing kills them. They also throw this nasty smell, maybe that’s why. And they climb on anything.

Weather is finally turning warmer again, and hopefully stays this time. 61 today, but consistant 70s forecasting for the next 9 days and even 80 on Sunday. I don't want to be too hot yet, but 70s is ideal for getting things out of the greenhouse. I hope to start transplanting this week. I'm getting a load of gravel Fm delivered Friday, we are dog sitting Friday and Saturday, I am taking my sister to the DMV Saturdag morning and have a family party Saturday afternoon... I guess Sunday is the day of work this weekend as that may be the only day I her spend several hours doing yard work. The gravel needs to be a focus because it will be blocking part of the driveway. So hopefully I get to the transplanting...

You are obviously doing more than simply increasing your fig tree numbers, because that is easily done without grafting.

What are you setting out to accomplish with your trials and grafting work?
