What did you do in the garden today?

Those are double tulips, I think. I had a couple similar to that bloom in my patch last year. Since the patch was in my garden bed I dug all the bulbs out last fall and replanted them in a new bed in the front yard. Haven't seen the doubles yet. Nice blooms!

I need to figure out where I want to move them. They are in the garden bed I want to get rid of. It's about a 4'x4' rounded diamond shape in the middle of the section of grass between the driveway turnaround spot and the front main garden bed (aka a weird spot, and in the way). I was going to get rid of it the first year we were here, but I remembered that there were pretty tulips in it when we did the inspection. It is straight out from where the underground sprinkler lines come out from the house, and has a small diameter PVC pipe buried vertically in it, too. Which reminds me to ask: Does anyone have any ideas of what the PVC could be there for?

Good morning all. Attila is broody and we found where she was hiding. She was walking around yesterday all puffed up and clucky and ready to beat the rooster into submission lol. I have to wait for some light so I can collect the eggs she’s been sitting on. I’m going to block that little pocket in the corner also to keep the girls out of there. Other than that I’m going to harvest lettuce and get water started for a new crop, and prep some nutrients for the peppers. Tomorrow I’ll pull all the tomato plants and clean things up a little bit in the shade garden. Our weather has been quite nice so hopefully this week I can get stuff done in the AM before I’m tired and wobbly.

Which is sad, what do we pay doctors for? They have the degrees, and sure as hell charge for their services. Why does the patient have to look for info to make themself feel better? I might as well just use dr google and save some money in this case. It’s a serious aggravation.

That’s a USA problem. I don’t pay for doctor visits.

I'll be out of town tomorrow but I'll see if I can get a picture of one on Sunday after my daughter's graduation. My youngest is graduating high school this weekend... I'm about to be an empty nester!

Hahaha. Only if you’re lucky enough. Rent is outrageous, university in America is so expensive, kids have to take loans.

It's not any more raised than the other flower beds (a few extra inches of soil held in by brick edging-things). It would seem weird to have a reservoir because it has at least 2 sprinklers covering it, and from what I can tell none of the other beds have it... I suppose I'll just have to dig the bed up (carefully) to figure out what it is. This underground sprinkler system is weird from what I understand.

I love looking at them! I can't grow tulips here, winters don't get cold enough.

But they don’t know our bodies like we do. They a degree to PRACTICE medicine, they don’t know all the answers all the time. We allow to practice on us because they make educated guesses with the knowledge we don’t have.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m quite thankful for doctors. Some are better than others, as with any profession.

I've had some wonderful doctors, one in particular was a nurse practitioner. She would sit and listen to me, and together we'd be able to figure out the best plan for my health. She died a few years ago; I miss her wisdom and compassion.

From personal experience working in the medical field I would state that most physicians are knowledgeable and competent, compassionate, even. However, the System they labor under puts a tremendous pressure to follow dictated policies and procedures that garner the System the highest profits. None are allowed to diverge from the official dictates. The paperwork they have to submit eats up a huge chunk of their time, too.

I'd love to go back to the country doctor/patient relationship model.

Now, back to gardening, here are my bush beans as of 7:30 this morning:

My compost pile is producing giant mutant worms.... Some are so big, it looks like a snake slithering out of the dirt. I've never seen worms this big in my life. They are fatter than my fingers and easily 8 - 10" long. I made the mistake of picking one up and it began to spray me with a liquid from multiple places along it's body... And when I say "spraying" I mean a strong stream of liquid like you spray from a spray bottle or kitchen sprayer. I immediately dropped it, repulsed.

I have so many worms in my garden that when you step on the soil, they rise out of the ground like zombies from the Night of the Living Dead. It's actually quite creepy...

Sounds like an invasive species.

Did not sleep well and feel rough. Out and about yesterday. Bought some dill seed for the butterflies.
