What did you do in the garden today?

I'm going to hit Home Depot today and buy a couple of new bent nose garden hose valves... I think. The two I have outside (one by the well house and the other by the shop, near the garden) are leaky and almost impossible to shut off.

I'd prefer to rebuild the valves with new stem packings and and seat packings, but that would require having a tool to resurface the valve seat. Might be more cost effective to just replace with new valves.

Going to check out the local True Value Hardware and see if they have the repair parts available, or if they have new valves competitively priced to HD's valves.

Another thing, sometimes the internal screws and other metal parts are so corroded they're unusable. Dang, probably more trouble free just to get the new valves.

Oh, and I just pulled the plastic cover off from over my tomatoes. It got down to 40 degrees here last night, and now it's bright and sunny.

The mess that our healthcare system is makes me furious. Thus my angry reactions to the posts above.

This country can and should do WAY better than that.

I've decided that should something like that happen to me, I'm going to go in person to the billing department and make such a big stinky nuisance of myself that someone will personally see to the problem. Because I ain't going away till they do.

Rant over. Gotta go drink some cold water to cool off here. That kind of crap makes my blood boil.

Yup. Let's get back to our gardening because it makes us happy. 🥰

I've finally got my kitchen restored to its former glory and I'm getting ready to go back out and tackle the chicken run. The compound miter saw I used to have is not out there anymore. I think my son must have taken it when he moved out. That's a sad thing indeed! LOL

So I've got to come up with a creative way to cut some very sharp angles. I think I've got something worked out in my mind, so I'll give it a try. It will involve two cuts, one on each side and, hopefully, I'll meet in the middle.

Yeah, back to gardening. I'm calmed down now.

I planted about 3/4 pound of Red Baron onion sets; probably have at least as many to go. DH's favorite onion, so I bought a lot of them. And a bag of Stuttgarter, as I need some white onions too.

When we went to help the "bee guy," he gave me about 6 sprouts of black raspberry bushes. I planted those today too. I know they can really take over. I put them in a raised bed so hopefully I can control their spread better.

While I was prepping the bed, I discovered how many rocks surfaced when we had our huge gully washer a few weeks ago. I'm collecting them in the cart to dump on our driveway, which got a gully washing of its own.

Oh no! I sure hope the kitty shows up! How weird.
They found the cat! There's a dead space in the corner of the base cabinets between the dishwasher and the corner cabinet. Somehow that fat cat squeezed through a 4 inch gap in the kickplate to get into that dead space. He's still in there. They will just have to wait for him to come out on his own.
