What did you do in the garden today?

I've been hardening off the last of my tomato and pepper plants. Today they got a few hours of direct, hot sunshine. They also got buffeted around by the wind some. They didn't break, so it should strenghthen their stems.

Maybe tomorrow evening would be a good time to put them in the garden. I think they'll be able to handle what nature dishes out by then.

I have several egg eaters. I've given up trying to stop the behavior. The best option I have is to simply collect eggs often to limit exposure. 🙄
I installed a roll away egg box. But a couple have figured out how to shove their heads in and poke them. SO I need to install a swish, view blocker. So out of sight, out of mine, I hope.

I've got to raise my rollout boxes because a couple of hens have learned to go underneath them and peck through the 1"x1" wire bottom. Hens can be quite creative when it comes to any kind of treat.

I moved my seedlings from the porch to the garden on Thursday. 30 of my 46 already-struggling tomato seedlings decided to fall off my cart on the way down... they all survived somehow, probably BECAUSE they're struggling, so still mostly below the rim of the cups. I'll admit that I'm planting the seedlings in the garden, too. Of course, after I got a bunch of them in, the forecast threw in a couple of lows in the high 30's. I'll just cover what needs to be covered, and bring in what I haven't planted, yet. I realized that I planted too much indoors, and that from now on, I'm only starting stuff indoors that absolutely needs to be started indoors (peppers, tomatoes...). We will see if I remember that next year...

Also, while out morel hunting on our property, I found wild asparagus! Which is pretty darn cool! Every single apple tree on our property is flowering (except one, I think), and the pear tree is also flowering. During the day, those trees are humming from all the bees.
