What did you do in the garden today?

It looks like ants are eating the leaves of my new sweet cherry trees. I am going to double check for aphids. Has anyone else had this? I looked online, but everyone says they are either good for the tree or tending aphids.
I noticed a bunch of ants on my peach tree yesterday & a few leaves have been eaten by something. Not sure if it's related or not! I did not see aphids, but I can't get down there to check super good. I read a neat article on ants farming aphids - interesting but questionable.

Not much happening in the garden, everything is growing well (cept the lettuce, lol). We cooked a turkey yesterday so now I'm making broth for soup. I've run out of canned broth & actually had to buy some! :tongue I don't see canning this year in my future, no clue what I'm going to do for gifts!

He is still in critical condition. He now has haemophilus influenza ( which for him is a type of pneumonia ). He also has MRSA and they are trying to get his sodium down. He is still heavily sedated and intubated. He has undergone 2 surgeries ( each 2 to 3 hours long) in the past 6 days to clean up dead skin and to take care of some of the skin grafts.
Thank you for asking. We are at the beginning of a long, rocky road.
:hugs

I do too. I like to change up the fats I use for cooking eggs and making salad dressing.
One of my favorite fats for frying eggs (other than butter) is beef tallow. We render it ourselves from fat we get with our 1/4 cow purchase. It hits just right with eggs.

What are these spots on my Asian Pear tree? Seems to be affecting newer leaves. Both Asian Pears have same problem (different varieties). No other fruit tree seems affected.

Fungus I would guess. Others are better tree experts than me (far from an expert here). Of course, copper always works for fungus.

I use beef tallow sometimes also. Makes the best fries ever! I was going to check with the butcher the next time we go and see if they have any fat I can render myself. I’ve never done it before with beef.

I tend to change up the fats quite a bit, lately I’ve been using avocado oil. It doesn’t add any flavor.

We bought some end tables at a garage sale. The goats were intrigued.

Bean tower 1. Three rows will be beans for drying and south facing row will be small melons. We have black plastic to heat up the soil.

Potatoes look good. Most have flower buds already! View attachment 3514350

We also planted the cotton plants today. They looked like they had good roots. Hopefully they like where we planted them.

We planted the peanuts too. Under black plastic for now bc nights still a bit cold, and soil temp might be a bit lower than they like. But we will remove the plastic in a few weeks I guess.

That bean tower is epic!
