Nice pics, folks. Thanks for sharing! Today, I pounded in stakes, and set up 2 more sections of cattle panel for tomato trellis. The 7 tomatoes I planted 9 days ago are now showing signs of correcting their nutrient deficiency (from too many days in the pot).

What a great idea need to go to Del's pickup a few cattle panels for my own :woot

Ah, ok. Nice. Mine are about 24 to 28 inches tall currently. Well, maybe they'll prove themselves by the time fall comes.

I hope so!

been lurking reading the thread for about two weeks had a fairly large garden last year went down to container gardening this year much easier on my body and my BF and his Son that is 35 and severely disabled.. I am adding photo's of our new improved garden.
The greenhouse and my main coop show in the background, the greenhouse which also holds my brooder now. The potatoes are being grown in burlap bags. most are vegies are growing in tires.

I had forgotten that you had talked about using tires to grow your vegetable in! How is that working out? I always have trouble with container gardening because I don't keep the containers watered enough. Last year I tried making a green bean teepee using large flower pots to grow the green beans in. It was only moderately successful. 1 pot grew nothing and the other 2 pots grew 2 green bean vines each (out of like 6 to 8 seeds planted in each pot. Had a hard time keeping them watered enough. I also tried using a re-usable grocery bag to grow zucchini in. The plant came up ok, but never got very big or produced any vegetables. Again, keeping it watered enough seemed to be a problem. I got the ideas off of the internet and out of a "square foot gardening" book.

I hope the poinsettias are safe from being eaten by kids and animals. I WAS ALWAYS TOLD THEY WERE POISONOUS.

I added some cattle panels in my garden to hold up my tomato plants too this year! We had seen the idea last year when we went on the "Sustainable backyard tour". This year is the 7th annual sustainable backyards tour. It is this Sunday. I think there are 45 places that are open to touring. It is from 11 to 4. They have everything from animals, edibles, energy, water and natives available as categories. You download, print off or pick up a printed map and use the guide to map out the places you want to go check out! It's a pretty cool idea. We've gone twice and are going again this year.

Tried a in ground large garden last year went over with a big thud :th
so rather than fail again did it all in tires and pots... was just too hard on our old bodies bending really have just as much as then but am able to keep weeds out and bird damage to berries planted not potato bugs either gotta like that :yesss:
