What did you do in the garden today?

Dan, your garden is impressive. What do you use for fertilizer???

I came home to a gift on my front steps today. My neighbor left me some Spaghetti Squash seedlings, courtesy of his daughter. :love

A cut worm ate one of my pepper plants yesterday. Mowed it right down. I cooked his goose, grubbed him out and fed him to the chickens. He was about 2" long and 1/3" wide.

Volunteer basil, it self sowed like a weed! Which I'll take some it's nicer than a weed.

Wild ground cherries, they make excellent ground covers especially when they come up in perfectly in line with my rows.

My Italian sweet peppers are insane! There are 16 plants each with at least 6 peppers some with over a dozen :th Speaking of which, when would you pick them? When they're fully ripe and Red or before?

Thanks :D I worked hard to make it better than last year. Last year my harvests were small and few. This year is much better, almost every time I go to the garden I make a harvest :celebrate Though they may be still smallish harvests we've run into a a problem, I'm producing more than we can eat but not quite enough to sell or put up. For fertilizer, I use rabbit manure, half composted or fresh it doesn't matter to me, it all works just as well and I have pretty much an endless supply as we're currently housing 60 rabbits. (Had a litter of ten born early this morning.) that and duck water are pretty much all I use. There are a few calcium supplement sprays mom has me use since we had a problem with blossom end tot last year but other then that it's rabbit poop and duck water.

You have a long growing season, so I'd let them go till they are red.
Ok, that's what I was thinking.

My watermelons are just now taking off, I'm kinda glad I got them in late cause if I'd planted them when I should have they'd have been almost ready but it's rained almost everyday for the last three weeks so if there had been fruit they would have all split. My apples are starting to split now. I've picked about six that had cracked right through.

Dan your garden does look great! I agree with using rabbit fertilizer my plants love it!
Why are your apples splitting? I guess I need to check mine and my pears.
All the rain is now causing powdery mildew on some of my plants. I will be spraying daily.

Thanks :D :D Yes they do! I put a scoop in each hole I dug for my peppers, I think it paid off.

The constant rain is causing the splitting. We've gotten nearly a foot a week.

We are going to start measuring the rain here. I have no idea the news does not give an accurate rate for our county. my young apple tree only had about 6 apples on it to start with. I hope the squirrels have not ate them.
I go out yelling like crazy every time I see them headed that way.
