What did you do in the garden today?

I picked another 5 gallon bucket of tomatoes today after the rain quit. The entire north end of town is without power because lightning hit the substation just up the road. Luckily I have a whole house generator so I'm good. At least the rain brought the temps down to the low 70s. I'd hate to be without power and no AC at 85-90 degrees. :sick

If it doesn't start raining again, I may go pull out the rest of the corn and seed more green beans. Might do some zucchini and carrots too.... We'll see.

Good afternoon all. We’re having a little cool down today, 76F and breezy. We’ve had scattered light showers all day but expecting severe thunderstorms in the next hour or so. My backyard is still soggy and squishy from last weekend. I had to skip the garden walk this morning. My eye appointment was pretty early so there was no time. I did take 10 minutes to pick another half pound of green beans. There’s 2 1/2 pounds in the refrigerator that I need to get into the freezer. Not complaining. Very happy to have a good harvest of these. I’m hoping my cherry tomatoes and sweet 100’s start ripening soon. I stopped at the grocery store on my way home to pick up a few things and grabbed a couple of tomatoes there to go with my salad mix. Glad to hear from you @igorsMistress. I think of you when they mention the weather in Arizona on the news. This has been pretty much a tough year all over. I have trouble with the heat and I know I could not survive those temperatures. It’s good to hear your son is making progress @karenerwin. Ok. The thunder is getting closer now so I’m thinking I should wrap up the chicken sitting.

We are at the pivotal point in the summer growing season, when zucchini harvests are too much to eat. On top of that, neighbors and co-workers are tired of receiving them:lau

Looks like someone else wants to get out of the elements too...
Ya. He's been living in the barn chasing mice and getting fat. I don't mind them.
I did have to totally take that part of the barn apart and clean it and redo all they hay bales, so I had to move him.
I picked him up and dropped him down a ground squirrel hole in the orchard. I'm sure he'll be VERY happy in there.
