What did you do in the garden today?

I got it from Amazon. It's on sale & then there was a 20% off coupon which I see is only 5% now. I'm cheap & won't buy anything if it's not on sale. :gig

(that is a valid link to Amazon, I promise, not sure why it's not showing the preview here)

That literally made me LOL. But glad you are ok!

Mine doesn't have a removable/replaceable seal! Had I known that I wouldn't have bought that one. I'm going to see if we have some seal lubricant somewhere & give that a shot - it's annoying me because it isn't sealing well anymore.
That is a great deal still though, thanks for the link!

Thanks for the reminder. I bought fresh cranberries today, but didn't think about making relish. I'm going to go buy an orange and a lime right now so I can make relish too!

Think I'll buy a sweet potato and make some sweet potato custard for tomorrow too. I don't feel like messing with making a pie crust so I'll just make the filling. LOL
I think the cranberry relish is my favorite part of the whole meal.

I will try water first, thanks. The price of turkey is insane this year! There is a restaurant here smoking turkeys for you to pick up - $150.
Holy cow, that’s outrageous! We just got a breast this year and that almost as much as a whole turkey a couple of years ago.

I purchased a buy one get one pair of turkeys. Paid $30 for the pair They were both about 15 pounders.
DS purchased just the breast for his house $25

Sister ordered an 8 pound breast-fresh and it came in at only 5, but that's fine for her house. (she paid for 5 as well - they just came in smaller than expected this year from the Amish farmer)
Pies are done.
Candy and a batch of cookies are done.
Laundry, except for the last load is done.
The patch in the master floor subfloor is drying.
General pick-up is about done.

2pm, and I'm poofed.

Our turkey was $1.18/lb but they are also giving away 8-12 lb turkey for FREE with a $75 purchase. I picked out an 18 lb turkey because I needed something bigger since we are feeding 9 people. They discounted it by subtracting the cost of a 12 lb turkey so I ended up paying less than $10 for it. Not bad! I'll wait until after Thanksgiving and pick up a couple more when they are on clearance.

Cranberry and stuffing are tied for first place for me.

The local store had their store brand at 59cents/pound, limit one, last week.

DH was gifted a Butterball turkey from where he works, so we have one for Christmas too.

Cranberry and stuffing are made. Tomorrow I will make a lemon meringue pie, stuff and bake the bird, and make mashed potatoes and gravy. I need to clear off the table so we can eat like civilized folk. :lau

I was just thinking the same thing when I looked at our table.

Turkey, stuffing, cranberry, mashed potatoes, gravy... I see the potential for a real mess if it's on a plate on a lap. :gig

Since the Lions play the first game, we will probably eat after they win. Because they're GOOD this year (2nd place in the NFL!:th), they will break the 6 year string of Thanksgiving Day losses. Right?!?

The rest of the afternoon was spent on cleaning bathrooms, mopping, and dusting.
Not because DS is coming for lunch, but because it was TIME.
All that's done now, and if I hadn't let it go while working on electric projects and the bath remodel, I wouldn't have had to spend a couple hours doing it today.
The only 'thanksgiving' food tomorrow is pumpkin pie.
I really, really needed one. Otherwise, just a lovely filet lunch with frozen custard and pie for dessert. I do need to make Mini loaves of bread in the morning- mustard horseradish and honey whole wheat.

Tomorrow, I'll make shortbread for the freezer and I need to shift the contents of one cabinet to another. I do not like corner cabinet lazy susans. Grumble, growl.
