What did you do in the garden today?

Sadly my tiny hometown doesn't have a Lowes.
Check or Walmart or your local nursery. It's too late to plant seeds and too hot to make starting a garden fun so sales are going on everyday with clearance prices on potted veggies.
Retailers are cutting their losses right now by practically giving them away. It costs them money to keep them alive.

I have a couple of rose bushes I need to plant, clearance at Lowes for $5. They're in sad shape and need some pruning but I almost always have good luck with plants from there. Spread some mulch around the apple tree and watering pretty much everything. Cleaned off the patio, fed and watered the chickens. Lots more to do but no heavy lifting. Finally got a wheelbarrow :woot

Awesome! We just bought some mint plants from Walmart for almost nuttin. The ones we planted near the chickens got 86-ed from the rain. Mint repels rodents. Rain repels mint. Walmart restarts the vicious cycle.
:)

I took the hilling discs off of Ollie and put on the harrow. was going to work up a patch of dirt for DD to plant strawberries. that was a big mistake.
the ground was still too wet. all i did was make a big mess. it rains here about every twelve hours.
hard to find two drying days in a row.

but the potatoes, corn beans and tomatoes are coming along just fine..
my rows are 190 feet long.
over 100 tomatoes planted.

I do need to check Walmart. I haven't in a while but a couple weeks ago I got $20 hanging ferns for $4 each. And they were still beautiful! I need to go back.

@jwyles Awwww. You probably have other places nearish that will be having end of season, or in our case, mid season sales. What part of LA you in?

Yeah. We have a Walmart haha! And across the river in Mississippi we have a couple nurseries. I live in Vidalia. We are right on the river across from Natchez MS. There are several larger cities that are 1.5-2 hrs away but I have no plans on heading out of town at this time. Too much going on. I honestly have never checked the nursery in Natchez for end of season sales and now that I think about it I don't know why!
