What did you do in the garden today?

Our temps dropped last year and OMG. I couldn't believe how cold it was. Considering I have only seen it snow here maybe 3 times in over 20 years and not only did we get snow about a month later we got a hail storm that my husband thought he was going to have to call me to pick him up and leave the semi truck on the shoulder of the off ramp.

DH just brought in a massive burpee catalog from the post box.

wow....how cold are you expecting it to get???

Even with lots of straw, they shiver when it’s below the middle teens at night. And since the days are cold too, we figure we should bring them in during the night.

With the temps we are forecast to get next week -- high in the low teens and lows in the single digits -- it won't surprise me if my little sprouts in the green house are toast a week from now. Unless there is some sunshine, there's no heat up there.

I looked into building a Crisco heater. Has anyone done that?

I got my garden book set for planting season. It contains 3 different types. Seed starting tracker, plant profile and seed harvesting tracker. This is going to be a great addition to the garden. I will get a picture of it and add it to the post

I never got around to picking all my kale and Brussels sprouts, and it got covered with snow. Oh well, I guess it'll be ok.
