What did you do in the garden today?

Looks like a Hyacinth to me.

Yes, that is a hyacinth. They smell lovely! The bulb is about the size of a fist.

Here's something my mom taught me about 55 (!) years ago. If you want to pick them, pull the stem straight up.

Are anti-inflammatory?? Going to have some with lunch today!
Thank you all for identifying my flower. Now I'm going to have to go outside, squat down and give it a sniff to see if I can detect the lovely smell. LOL

Update: The hyacinth flowers smell pretty good.

Progress report from our garden: halfway there and feeling optimistic! 🌱 After last year's soil struggles, we're revamping with raised beds crafted from concrete blocks and top-notch soil from a nearby supplier.

💪 Dealing with a bout of sickness, but still managing to push forward with the help of this amazing partner! 🌿

Nothing in the garden yet. Hopefully tomorrow but it might be raining ☹️. Have a bunch of seeds to put up for my mom and also for a friend of my daughter. Took my middle granddaughter to PT. For popcorn I just go down the popcorn aisle at the store and buy a big bag of popping corn. It's the same thing only cheaper 😁. I meant to say to grow corn I just buy a bag of popcorn.

Is this person a scientist, nutritionist or medical professional? I am skeptical of information passed on through social media that has no scientific basis. Sorry. I don’t have a problem with foods in the nightshade family and I also have fibromyalgia and arthritis. I have to be careful with high potassium content foods because I have CKD. That came from medications I had been taking. I do try to be open minded about information but I am cautious to learn more about claims made on social media especially when the information is coming from someone who is profiting from it.
For over 20 years I have been reading books, newspaper stories, and magazine articles from nutritionists, scientists, physicians, etc. about inflammation and Nightshade vegetables. It's not new, nor is it just from social media. It's included in any number of books.

What the person in that one source said was that Nightshades seem to make inflammation worse in some people, others aren't affected. Maybe we have a borderline allergy?

If you can eat Nightshades and not be affected I am happy for you. I, and many others, can't.
