What did you do in the garden today?

kombucha. We love the stuff so I keep a 2 gallon container working all the time now.
When you have fruit in the house be careful with fruit flies. I had tomatoes in overnight next to the continuous brewer. A week or so it started tasting funny. I took the cover off and a billion fruit flies came out. Larvae was in the mother and pupating on the side of the keg. :sick I lost interest after that.

I sneak stuff in all the time because hubs isn’t a fan of a lot of vegetables. Cauliflower and broccoli are pretty easy to hide in meatloaf. I hide carrots in it because the tweenager doesn’t like them. Squash too, zucchini and yellow crookneck.
Funny how much a mostly veggie stew is devoured with only compliments to the chef, though. Veggies & herbs are what give the best flavor! Shhhh, we won't talk about it, just serve it & smile. Lol

I would love to take classes like that, sound neat. I need to retire first I think.
Yeah, I'm retired so I consider myself very lucky to have the time and health to do as much as I do. They were talking about maybe having breadmaking and cheese making classes this year but I guess they decided not too after all.

Okay, that's gross lol. We did have a war with fruit flies not long ago but I was super careful to keep the kombucha safe.

I'm so mad at the weather people - they straight up LIED. It got so cold last night, low 20s (if not upper teens, I slept late). I would have covered my brand spankin new strawberries. :hitI'm going to be so mad if they all die. They are frozen solid with no cover.
I totally forgot our strawberries this entire winter and they did fine - even in the 20s. My pineapple 🍍 died though. Hope yours pulls through

We have to get more soil from our dirt dealer. It's Sunday so not sure if he will be available. Otherwise, we are due two days of rain, so I may not get much done this week. Slogging through mud to move 40 pound cinderblocks kinda sux.

I'm also still sick. Not flu or covid says the ER, but it's got me whipped. I'm barely able to get the seeds in the ground. The chickens miss me too. Thankfully, our son comes over every morning and scoops the coop poop boards for us.

Hope you feel better soon. It sucks when the mind has all these ideas of stuff you wanna do, but the body says nope, not right now. 😕 If you rest & take care now, though, you'll feel better for doing that later on. 🌼

learned to make kombucha. We love the stuff so I keep a 2 gallon container working all the time now.
I make batches, usually 3 gallons at a time, every two weeks. I bottle and do a secondary ferment, mixing in 1/4 cup sour cherry juice per bottle. Love that stuff. I can drink all of it by myself, too; hubby is not a fan.

It's very healthy, but definitely an acquired taste. I like sauerkraut. I haven't tried many kombuchas, but one I did try was in a bottle at the grocery store. It was not good. I imagine you can make your own with varied flavors. You use the cherry juice? Id like to try your recipe. Probably alot better than that grocery store stuff! I'm going to Google some info & flavors. I love all things pickled & love the sauerkraut so there has to be kombucha to appeal to my taste buds.
