What did you do in the garden today?

I got out and planted my canna lilies, I will be getting more... I figured out a place to put them! In front of the pool to hide it a little.

I also finished moving mulch around, got my ground level bed amended and ready.

Planted my last two pots of blackberries, planted my lemongrass in the ground finally, it's been 6 years....

Would it be possible to see your Green House? I’ve been thinking of getting a very small one. Thanks

Well, it's not really a greenhouse. I have 4x8 raised garden beds. I added PVC pipe to make hoops to support 10' wide poly sheeting. I also have a 1x2 across the top of the PVC to support overhead sprinklers if needed but I didn't need that for structure.
I can cover all six of my beds if I desire. I currently only have the one done up to protect my seedlings and whatever plants I will inevitably impulse buy from the local college plant sales in a few weeks.

ETA: the clamps are from Home Cheapo, the bag is like 9$. The galvanized pipe holders are for 3/4" PVC, they come in bags of 10 for like 4$. The PVC hoops are 8' long 1/2".

I also managed to get my canna lilies planted today... At least some of them anyway. I have 6 starts (orange flowers) that I grew from seeds. I planted 3 of them along with 3 rhizomes (salmon pink) that I picked up at TSC. I put them in a bed by the house where I have some irises and a peach rose bush. I seeded some cherry brandy rudbekia and some yellow chamomile with them. Should make a very pretty bed if everything blooms.

So I still have 3 more starts to find a place to put... I also had a package I recovered from my mom's garden shed but I'm pretty sure those rhizomes were from 2016-ish. They were all black and dried out. Pretty sure they are dead but threw them in some water to rehydrate them. You never know. Crazier things have happened... 😂

That sounds so great! I can hardly wait to see photos!

I need to get irises, we have a great iris farm nearby. I've been wanting to plant more bulbs. I love bulb flowers!

Thank you. I also try to eat right, avoid most processed foods, and stay as active as my body allows. I still need to listen to it (and David) more. But it's hard when I don't have anything to say other than "I don't feel well" with no reason. I should also get back into some yoga or something. I probably can't kickbox anymore, but something more gentle would be a better start.

I think I would feel better +and less crazy) if doctors could figure out what is wrong since they've ruled out everything dang near. In the meanwhile I just try to convince myself that it's not all in my head and I'm not going crazy.

30s is so young to be dealing with all that and I bet it was a total shock. The first time I got my lab results after they cleared asthma and allergies, I braced myself to hear those words - but thankfully, that wasn't the case. I remember how scared and small I felt waiting though.

I honestly hope you stay in remission and never have to go through that again.

I did finally get to do something outside today - I harvested some fresh green onion tops for tonight's dinner.

Thank you for the encouragement. I'm grateful for it
Doctors only know what they've studied & have been educated to know, with whatever curriculum. The surgeon will suggest surgery, the oncologist with suggest chemo, the hematologist does endless bloodwork & the endocrinologist tests hormones, etc. When they have no experience in a particular field or certain symptoms, they'll send you to another specialist, but if what's out of balance is not what they happen to test for, we just have no clue, and neither do they. Sometimes our immune systems are what may need help, challenged by whatever we may be unknowingly exposed to over the years. It might help if you can find a decent holistic doctor, naturopath, or homeopath. I went to several before I actually found one that helped me. He and his wife practiced Herbal medicine & acupuncture. Some that I saw were pretty much quacks (sorry to insult ducks). Unfortunately, we can't rely on many online reviews either, so many are fake. If you can reach out to people, word of mouth will be the best referral. It might be worth checking into.

Another 7-ish hours spent in the garden today. In addition to the canna lilies, I planted 20 ranunculus corms. I also planted 3 peony roots and seeded a low-grow flower mix around the peony border. Except one bed which I seeded with antique calendula.

Lastly I repotted a honey mesquite seedling and started some comfrey, marigolds, and columbine in some peat pots.

Now I'm pooped. 😂😴

This thread is so motivating. It really has made me feel like I can keep chipping away at stuff. I got rained on pretty hard today but it was worth it. The cloudburst was enough that I had to go inside for about an hour. Slow moving storm this weekend.

I'm so excited to see everyone's gardens start to take off come May. I think this is going to be a good season. 🎉💚
