What did you do in the garden today?

T minus 2 hours and counting til we have to leave for this afternoon's market. 3rd to last set of bread in the oven now. About 36 minutes per batch, so I'll be cutting it close. Wish wish wish my other oven was working : (. I've had to get really strategic about forming and chilling dough.

Hey, but someone's going to be able to buy bread so fresh it's still warm from the oven, lol.

Haven't been able to get on in a while. My old laptop is dying a painful death and haven't been able to get the app to work well on my phone. I'm sure it's user error as far as the phone is concerned. My new laptop was suppose to arrive yesterday, but didn't:(:hit
Am using hubby's laptop as he is sleeping in. I begged some tomatoes from a coworker and ended up with enough plus the few I got from my garden to put up 5 pints of pasta sauce and 5 pints of chili base. So sad that my garden is not cooperating with me this year.
I want to try the back to Eden method, but so far can't find a source for wood chips. I even went online and signed up to be a place where companies can dump wood chips. Have priced chippers, but they are more than what we can spare at the moment. Now trying to find a friend that has one I can borrow. :oops:
My sunflower seedlings seem to have all died in this heat. I was keeping them and the garden watered, but....
I do have another pack that I will plant.
My garden looks really sad. I had to pull out all the zucchini plants Bugs killed them. Out of 3 cucumber plants only 2 are still alive, barely. The pumpkin plants, the surprise plants, are on their way out too. Green bean plants are growing well, but no flowers yet. Tomatoes are barely hanging in there. Green peppers are growing, they just don't have a lot of peppers on them. Replanted kale & spinach, but it looks like only the kale MAY come up. Already planning on how to make next year better. This has been my worst garden in a very long time. I even put a lot of compost on it {LOL, wonder if that some how made it worse?}
Guess i win the sunflower competetion, though some of them are too lazy to stand up straight. I will have to get a picture. Sorry your garden is not doing well. A lot of my plants are chewed to shreds. I do have some green beans i will be picking soon.

@Taote I can't keep lettuce, most greens, peas, and any cool weather crops much past April or May, if I'm lucky. It's a trade off. I do appreciate that for sure! I'm using my bread machine today to bake tomatoe herb bread while I work on coop. Your fault, with all your yummy baking talk!

@CapricornFarm yup, I've been trying to paint all sides of everything as we go, but HE is, uuummm, sorta unpredictable? He's certainly not as OCD afflicted as I am! It's also so freakin' humid that paint doesn't want to dry. If I sit, I stiffen up, do best to just keep working!

Post pictures! Yay! At least you get to eat yours, lol.

Yeas, send pictures! I didn't even plant my sunflower seeds, though I have one single volunteer (from some chicken treat seed mix, I think).

Lol. Ok. I'll post pics of bread machine bread. Just remember, you asked for it!

I wish I'd had my phone or pad nearby this morning! I sat back to catch my breath and about four hummingbirds came to visit my plumeria blooms. Tiny wrens were in the oak trees checking out my work. Heard then saw one of my many woodpeckers working over the widow makers. I need to get after those again. A moment of peace and beauty. Love my garden!

Aren't birds some of the most wonderful creatures? I also love sitting in the perennial garden and watching hummers, swallows, bluebirds, and many other birds. A natural blood pressure reducer!

Wish it were me! (getting your fresh bread). Jen, how many markets do you go to in a week? Do you bake fresh goods for each one? Sounds like you really keep busy!
