What did you do in the garden today?

Looked out the window at the chicken run to see a light layer of frost on the roof :he the garden is right next to it and I didn't cover last night due to the weather person saying we will be 10 degrees warmer than the night before.
I had the same thing happen yesterday morning! They forecasted the low to be 41°, and when I got up and looked at the thermometer, it said 36° and there was frost on the top of my truck. So, I sprinted around watering all my plants. I didn't see any frost on any plants, but was still terrified I was going to lose everything! Everything survived, thank goodness! I don't know what I would have done if my tomato and pepper plants had been killed... I pray your plants survive!

Something ate half of my cucumber starts. I even have them covered with hardware cloth. 🙄

I think I'm going to not cover any of my veggies this year. I'm growing every thing on trellises so hopefully that will help with the squash bug & cucumber beetles. I have too much growing to hand pollinate it all, if my parthenocarpic cukes came up I would have covered them. But oh well, we'll see how it goes.

The same thing happened to me last year. All my tomato plants except one yellow pear were killed. Some of them were rare types I was trying. I had to buy some common tomato plants from TSC and Lowes. Hope yours' will survive.

That didn't last long. :lau

The thought of cucumber beetles just creeps me out.

I got all the soaker hoses in too, one day I'll get an irrigation system in. I just need like a 5 foot piece of connector hose to go from tomatoes to cukes & I'll have it all down to 3 zones.

Ah!! Maybe so!
I thought phone id as virginal creeper. I had a problem w PI on that tree and after suffering for a long time w rash, just clipped the vines and left them. Those dead vines are still on there too - I’m sure with oil!!
I’ve talked myself out of pulling down 😂
The best remedy for poison ivy is antihistamines. It's an allergic reaction, makes sense.

I'd never heard of a SS hose until I saw it in a catalog. I'd be up for replacing one hose at a time, if they are as good as they sound.

I have a LOT of hose. Probably 300 feet to service the downhill garden, and 75-100 to take care of any hose needed in the front yard. We have a splitter at the spigot at the house.

Well, we will when hubby disconnects the hose he put there to fill containers to take to the tote up the hill. I tried to take it off, but couldn't budge it.
The newer cheaper hoses have metal ends that corrode when left attached to the faucet. I had to use a small hacksaw to remove my hose, then had to get a die tool to redo the threads.

I bought a "lifetime" hose and a brass Y valve from Lee Valley so I could attach two hoses to my faucet. I attached the lifetime hose (100') to one side and a 25' to the other. I ran the long hose out to the raised beds, burying it where it crossed parts of the yard that need to be mowed. We get winter here but not so cold to damage the hose that's a couple inches down.

I don't have to drag a hose very far in the back yard. I use the short hose for gardens closer to the back of the house and the ponds, birdbaths, the longer one for the raised beds farther back, and for filling the chicken waterers. I picked up an inexpensive stand to hold the excess length.
