What did you do in the garden today?

Well I think I've lost my entire Catawba grape harvest. I noticed that the foliage was really late coming out but vines had a ton of fruit on them... Just no leaves. Once leaves started to come out, I noticed rust spots. Treated for them several times now... But today I saw that most of the fruit is now dying off. 😔

Concords are making up for the quitters. They are going crazy....

So if my Catawbas end up dying completely, I may just start new ones in a completely different location.

I've been weeding Thursday and Friday.
Friday my husband was home from work so he helped me weed the sweet corn, today we put down more grass clippings to keep the weeds down in the corn patch.
I've been putting rugs everywhere trying to minimize my weeding.
The garden is all growing pretty well except for my carrots, so I'm going to plant some more tomorrow and I found another spot to plant some more sunflowers.
I even planted some seeds from a gigantic pumpkin my husband got me for Halloween that got moldy in storage but they grew anyway. 😊

This guy grew a mango leaf, a mango scion and an unripe mango seed in coca cola and grew it to the fruiting stage. Amazing, makes me want to try. I have never rooted a mango scion before, all my attempts failed.

I am currently trying to root a mango scion in a raw egg. I saw a video of someone doing it successfully and it rooted in just 10 days. Hard to believe, I hope it works.

Growing up I was told not to use seeds of fruits etc bc you will not get what you want. Most have been grafted and was told not a great plant- just buy the seeds you want.
Anyone else told this growing up?

I heard this about most fruits being hybrids, the grafting was to ‘clone’ a desired plant and because some rootstocks are more disease resistant.

I don’t think my berries will mature. It’s like they stopped and those canes shot up! It’s a fairly new plant- think year 2. I did fertilize and I also think the chicks did too!

I didn’t know butternut squash blooms were so big and beautiful!

Chickens enjoying a short break in rain. We were worried about them bc one day they stayed in coop till rain started then ran out 😂! They’ve figured to take cover during rain now!

Wild loofah growing leaps and bounds!
