What did you do in the garden today?

@Wee Farmer Sarah should I plant my lavender in the ground or in a raised bed (that has no bottom). Maybe in the ground & cover with leaves for the winter (this is what I did last time)? Is yours directly in the ground?
Yes. I plant in the ground and it usually overwinters well. I had to replant after that minus 15 degree plunge the winter before last. The lavender I planted with the grapevines did very well and one plant is getting ready to bloom already. Potted or container plantings will likely not survive the winter.

Got the rest of the top half of the garden cardboarded & mulched. Need cardboard for the bottom half. Waiting for bug netting for the melon trellis.

Sprinkled blood meal on the garlic.

Got the rest of the hoses hooked up, so excited I don't have to water a single thing this year by hand. :wee

I love it when the garden starts coming to life! It's my happy place.

I have not grown that before. Thanks for the tips!

I can't grow lavender. I think it is so pretty.
I love borage. The seeds I planted in the tomato bed never sprouted, but the ones I planted with the watermelon did!

Hydrangea

Yesterday was a busy day.

I potted the last two annuals sitting in their dinky little containers, lantana and citronella.

I created an extension for my clematis trellis

Used my new hedge clippers on the far corner, and around the ponds...I can see the stepping stones now!

This was all vines, lots of 🤬🤬🤬 wisteria and thorny stuff... 🐐🐐

The weather has been cooperative, no 90° days, so I have been able to do more.

We had .01 of rain yesterday. Big fuss over nothing. Planted pole beans and bush beans. Transplanted Hollyhock starts and native columbine starts. Pic of mulberries. Just a wild one with good taste.View attachment 3851230

@jerryse , what do your native columbines look like? In western WA they look like this:
