What did you do in the garden today?

Had one of those monster, great plains, mother ship storms at dusk last night.
It brought 10 minutes of 64 mph winds and driving rain, almost 2 inches.
If we had had hail in that of any size, we'd have been shredded.
Just rain this time.
We lost two branches on a birch tree, but they weren't huge.
The cloth around the garden fence saved the garden.
After the storm was stunning, the colors surreal.
Spent the whole morning moving the remaining 50 bales of hay from the shed bank to the barn, which leaves me a WHOLE barn to fill with this years hay, I hope!View attachment 3857429
That is a cool photo, especially with the weather vane in the foreground.

I have a vanilla orchid that has hardly grown at all in the 2 yrs I've had it. I moved it outside to the steamy greenhouse which is more suitable climate for that type of plant. However now it's starting to yellow... I think it's in too shallow a pot for the wetter conditions out there.

So I bought a 5 gallon wire mesh trash can to repot it in... Hoping it works!

Any orchid experts on here?

I need to weed my garden sooooooo badly. But it's so. hot. outside. 🥵
We get this in a few days (granted, I’m a zone or so cooler than you). But today is totally overcast, dry and in the 60s!!!! Tonight goes to 45F -totally weird for mid June. But then heat builds and really hot later this week/weekend.

So, I’m doing garden chores bc I’ll be hiding later this week.

SWEET POTATO slips arrived today!!! We’ve had black plastic over the areas we will plant these for a week, so I’m going to plant despite the cool temps tonight. I figure the soil will retain some heat bc the black plastic will stay on the ground.

Hot humid and indirect sun

I'll need to take the weed stick out to the garden this evening and check moisture level on the soil.
Bug spray will be a must, but daytime work into the humid 90s isn't happening.
I do have 4 hibiscus to plant in a tree bed out front.
Other than that, it's just working on odd jobs inside - kitchen tile on the wall and some shelving in the basement.
