Isn't it wonderful? I'm picking blueberries daily. My hens were picking the lowest branches earlier.I picked my first few blueberries today. Hubby will have them in his pancake for breakfast tomorrow morning.

Ditto that, I don't know where else my odd bird brained humor would be appreciated...love you all here!I just need you all to know how much I've enjoyed becoming a part of our little niche in weird chicken gardening land. I appreciate all of you and care about everyone here. Regardless of being "internet strangers". Cheers and happy fathers day to all of the dads out here. Funny how much us partners love our men. Even if they do the dumbest, most lazy, etc, B*^#$, ever.Regardless, the dads give us unending support and love. Lol. No matter how ridiculous our projects can be.
I catch my DH outside feeding the um, chickens, we call them *female dogs*.... treats allllll the time. If I lose him, I know to look outside to see... usually he's in his pajamas, feeding them kale or chard through the fence. LOLDitto that, I don't know where else my odd bird brained humor would be appreciated...love you all here!
Also, I'm very fortunate to have a DH that understands me & how I feel about my "Fids" (Feathered Kids).
Very Grateful!![]()
When I was a young adult in my 20s, I had a lot of therapy. I think at some point I was "diagnosed" with both of those things and many more. I was put through a cadre of different drugs. None of it actually made me feel better... That went on for a decade. Then I lost my insurance and stopped taking all medications for a period of time. Incidentally I started taking a class 3-4 days per week that was a mix of 30 minutes of CrossFit followed by an hour of close combat martial arts. This combination of high intensity workout completely CURED any and all symptoms of fill-in-the-blanket mental health struggles. No longer did I feel depressed, anxious, whatever. It was the best thing for my health that ever happened and it was completely by surprise and unexpected. Now I wouldn't take a psychiatric drug if my life depended on it. I'm not saying they aren't necessary for some people but I do think we have a whole society of people who are horribly over-prescribed things they don't need. As for the Claritin-D, I only take it when my allergies become completely unmanageable which isn't often. Please do me a favor read the drugs in some claritin and Allegra
are we all bi polar or depressed ?
Thinking about the nightmares your chickens must have for days every time you clean your coop....Mine? the cube of pine shavings. just walking in the run with a fresh, unopened cube sends them screaming and running away. I have NO idea why.
Oh, Liz! I am so sorry! This is awful.Speaking of too late...the hail did a number on my entire garden.Little seedlings that I nutured & grew up indoors months ago...what a sad end. I have 3 tomato plants that survived & the corn is trying to rise again. I think a pumpkin plant is hanging on. I don't understand how squash & cucumbers can just get pulverized like that...was it that much hail? I guess so. It knocked over that end of the garden stakes & deer netting, too. Maybe we had a mini-nado, it was all twisted like a big swirl blew it in a circle. The wind & hail Pummeled my wildflowers, too, all still blooming but laying down now, all flat on the ground.
Here it is mid June, but it is as hot as the end of July! This is not typical, heat like this so darn soon. Oh, we get our share of 100+ degree days, but usually not til end of Jul & August. While June may not be too late to plant some things, with this heat...wow, I don't think it's a good idea. I dont want to sprout some seeds for nothing, only to have them get fried. Any advice?
For my girls, it's me bringing in the lawn mower bag. I can throw just about anything else into the run, but god forbid that I empty the mower bag into the run. They fly everywhere, crying/screaming, breaking beaks on the hardware cloth.... tattering combs and toe nails. Good lord. it's just grass.... I've tried everything. Now I just put it in there when they're out in the orchard. I walk back within 10 minutes and alllll of them are scratching through what I put in the run... LolWhat freaks out your entire flock the most? Just the mere sight of it....
Foxes? Yeah, that'll get roosters to raise a ruckus
Hawks overhead? Yeah, that gets everyone clucking, squawking & hiding under shrubs.
But the absolutely most frightening sight is....
An empty feed bag blowing across the yard![]()
